A postdoctoral position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Giovanni Ligresti to study basic and translational aspects of lung repair and fibrosis with specific emphasis on molecular mechanisms regulating pulmonary endothelial cell responses to lung injury. The work will be conducted within a multidisciplinary laboratory featuring state-of-the-art resources, cell/tissue/animal models, and access to excellent core facilities.
The successful candidate will have established experience in three or more of the following: (a) advanced techniques in biochemistry, cellular, molecular biology relevant to vascular biology and fibrosis research; (b) genomic or epigenomic approaches; (c) experimental modeling and analysis of fibrosis in mice; (d) primary culture and/or analysis of mesenchymal cell populations; and (e) cell/tissue imaging techniques such as fluorescence, confocal, multiphoton microscopy (f) FACS sorting.
The candidate will be expected to develop and execute independent research plans leading to peer-reviewed publications, should be comfortable working within an interdisciplinary group of research personnel, and possess excellent oral and written communication skills. Maximum consideration will be given to candidates with strong research motivation and initiative towards independence. Although the candidate's salary will be fully supported by intramural as well as extramural (NIH) funding, he/she will be expected to initiate progress towards independence via submission of research grant proposals.
