Occ Summary

Conduct independent research activities under the guidance of a faculty mentor in preparation for a full time academic  research career.

Work Performed

You will be involved in clinical research projects under Dr. Treggiari’s supervision. You r responsibilities will include learning about good clinical practice fo r ethical conduct of human subject research, learning study protocols for ongoing research projects, and contributing to the development and implementation of future research protocols. Additionally, you will help re viewing, interpreting and scoring EEG of polysomnography recordings. You will also learn and become familiar with data management systems including Research Electronic Data Capture (REDCap). You will be expected to contribute to subject enrollment in clinical research, data collection, data entry in the electronic case report form, scoring of the tests instruments, data cleaning, and data analysis. You will also be writing and/or contributing to the preparation of manuscripts resulting from this work and contribute to grant writing. In addition to the research activities, you will be expected to attend departmental ground rounds, conference s, as well as research seminars.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Min Degree Requirements:  Ph.D. or equivalent doctorate (e .g. Sc.D., M.D., D.V.M.)

Other Credential/Experiential Requirement s:  The incumbent must be a true post-doctoral fellow registered with the Post Doc Office and per the following requirements:

The term of this appointment is limited (5 years with a possible extension for an additional year)

The appointment involves substantially full-time research or scholarship, which may include teaching responsibilities.

The appointment is viewed as preparatory for a full time academic or research career.

The appointment is not part of a clinical research training program, unless research training under the supervision of a senior mentor is a primary purpose of the appointment.

The appointee works under the supervision of a scholar or a department at Duke University.

The appointee has the freedom and is expected to publish the results of his or her research or scholarship during the period of the appointment.
