Postdoc / Staff Scientist In Retinal Differentiation and Degenerations And Stem Cells

A postdoctoral / staff scientist position is available in Dr. Wei Liu laboratory at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, New York, USA. The scientist will perform NIH-funded research projects that dissect molecular mechanisms of retinal differentiation and inherited retinal degenerations, contributing to therapeutic development for degenerative retinal disease. We employ multidisciplinary approaches, including engineered mice, human pluripotent stem cells, organoids, CUT&RUN, CRISPR gene editing, bulk and single-cell RNA sequencing, ATAC sequencing, and computational biology. Additional information on our research projects can be found in our recent publications, including Elife (2023) 12 . 10.7554/eLife.87306, International PCT Application (2022)PCT/US2022/041843, PNAS (2019) 116(22):10824-10833, Cell Reports (2018) 25: 2510-2523, Stem Cell Reports (2016) 6:743-56, and on our websites (https://www.einsteinmed.edu/faculty/12331/wei-liu/ ). We were recently awarded NEI prizes for the NEI 3-D Retina Organoid Challenge. Our laboratory is affiliated with the Departments of Ophthalmology and Genetics and the Gottesman Institute for Stem Cell and Regenerative Medicine Research at Einstein. The scientist will receive multidisciplinary training in a highly collaborative and productive academic environment and have the opportunity to work with Dr. Liu for the long term.

A successful candidate is expected to be a highly self-motivated, Ph.D. graduate with strong background in developmental biology, stem cell biology, or molecular biology. Research experience in eye development, transcription factors, histone posttranslational modifications, cell apicobasal polarity and adhesion, axon growth and pathfinding, omics studies, and inherited retinal degenerations is a plus. To apply for this position, please send your CV, contact information of three referees, and a statement of research interest to Dr. Wei Liu, [email protected].
