Job Summary
The Department of Horticulture is seeking a highly motivated and passionate individual to join our research team. As a Bioinformatician, you will play a key role in advancing our research efforts, with a primary focus on data mining and the integration of -omics datasets to address complex bioinformatics and microbiology questions. The ideal candidate holds a PhD degree in bioinformatics, computer science, or a related field, and possesses strong programming skills in Python, R, or C. Preference will be given to candidates with prior experience working on microbiology /or microbiome-based research projects and have experience in bioinformatics, including but not limited to NGS data analysis and multi-omics. 
Responsibilities:

·        Contribute to cutting-edge research in bioinformatics.
·        Apply data mining techniques, use existing software for the analysis and integration of -omics datasets and develop bioinformatic tools to solve complex microbial challenges.
·        Collaborate with microbiologist, molecular biologist and other bioinformaticians to analyze and interpret diverse biological datasets.
·        Stay abreast of the latest advancements in bioinformatics and literature related to the research projects. 
·        Provide training to undergraduate and graduate students. 
·        Take a leading role in data management and disseminating the research results through publications.
