Position Description

Join an exceptional multidisciplinary research team led by Dr. Hofstetter, a renowned academic neurosurgeon at the University of Washington. Our team is at the forefront of developing groundbreaking biomarkers and experimental treatment strategies for acute spinal cord injury. We are currently seeking a dedicated Post-Doctoral Scholar to contribute to our pioneering research efforts.

Key Responsibilities:

• Play an integral role in a dynamic research team focused on the development of novel ultrasound-based imaging techniques to assess tissue perfusion and blood flow in the microvasculature using various animal models.
• Engage in the exploration of ultra-early biomarkers for spinal cord injuries to forecast injury severities, with the long-term goal of translating this technology for patient benefit.
• Exhibit expertise in image analysis, signal processing, and statistical modeling using Matlab, particularly in the context of ultrasound imaging.
• Conduct animal experiments, ensuring compliance with ethical standards and protocols.
• Collaborate with the research team to contribute to scientific manuscripts and grant proposals, highlighting findings and advancements in the field.

Postdoctoral scholars are represented by UAW 4121 and are subject to the collective bargaining agreement unless agreed exclusion criteria apply. For more information, please visit the University of Washington Labor Relations website .

This is an annually renewed (12-month service period) appointment. The anticipated start date is September 1,2024.

The salary range for this position will be $5,705-$7,374 per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. Salary will be commensurate with research experience and based on the NIH guidelines for postdoctoral trainees.

Qualifications

• PhD in a relevant field (e.g., neuroscience, biomedical engineering, medical physics).
• Proficient in image analysis, signal processing, and the application of statistical models, preferably in Matlab.

• Experience with animal research, demonstrating a commitment to ethical research practices.

• Strong ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary research environment.

• Demonstrated track record of scientific writing and contributions to peer-reviewed publications.
