Salary/Pay Range : $45,000 - $50,000. Compensation will be commensurate upon experience and qualifications.

Summary

This postdoctoral associate will be focused on supporting the programming and mission of the Center for Religious Diversity and Public Life.  Specifically, they will help achieve the objectives of the Henry Luce Foundation funded project, "Living Together: Finding Democratic Diversity and Religious Coexistence in Colorado Springs and the Mountain West”—a central project of the Center.

Essential Functions

The duties and responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:

The postdoctoral associate will report to Dr. Jeffrey Scholes, Director of the Center for Religious Diversity and Public Life, and their responsibilities will focus on program service and management, student mentorship, grant writing, limited teaching and public humanities outreach. 

This will include:

  • Managing and organizing the logistics for a speaker series on religion, diversity, and democracy.
  • Drafting materials for grant reporting and future grant applications.
  • Collecting information that helps in the securing of private donations to the Center.
  • Supporting students performing independent research on religion, diversity, and democracy in the Pikes Peak region through affiliation with the Center for Religious Diversity and Public Life.
  • Developing and disseminating media materials for center activities including online advertisements and short podcast episodes.
  • Program support for a developing Center for the Study of Evangelicalism.
  • The associate will also publicly present their personal research at least once during the academic year.

Tentative Search Timeline

  • Priority will be given to applications submitted by April 29, 2024 by 5:00pm.

Qualifications

 

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

  • Education:  PhD in Religious Studies, History, Anthropology, Sociology, Political Science or a Related Humanities or Social Scientific Field. ABDs may apply with official confirmation (verification from Department Chair / Committee) that they have completed all requirements for their degree by August 2024.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Candidate should demonstrate evidence of ability to engage students and community populations from diverse backgrounds.
  • Experience studying and/or working with the non-profit sector.
  • Familiarity with the Front Range and Pikes Peak Region.
  • Understanding of the civil society landscape where issues of race, class, gender, sexuality, religion intersect in the public and private sectors.
  • Experience in grant writing for organizations akin to the National Science Foundation or the National Endowment for the Humanities. 
  • Working capacity in digital design and online media creation.
