Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Under minimum supervision lays out, constructs (installs), repairs, and maintains water, drainage (sewer/storm), and gas distribution systems, related facilities and auxiliary equipment and equipment utilizing water, gas, and heat distribution services.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- 6-yrs total experience composed of 4-yrs apprenticeship plus 2-yrs experience, or
- 6-8 yrs. total experience composed of formal trade school plus minimum 2-yrs experience, or
- 8-yrs experience (no formal training)
- Must have a valid NYS Driver’s license.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of NFPA 85 – Boiler and Combustion Systems Hazards Code.
- Knowledge of boiler system corrosion control methods.
- Experience with fuel oil handling and spill control methods.
- Backflow testing and repair.
Environmental, Health, and Safety Requirements:
- Ability to do heavy lifting > 30 lbs.
- Ability to do moderate lifting < 30 lbs.
- Ability to work in confined spaces.
- Ability to climb fixed and portable ladders.
- Work outdoors/cold environments.
- Work in warm environments.
- Moving machinery.
- Use of powered and air operate hand-tools.
- Use of respirator and other related safety equipment.
- Physical coordination dexterity and balance.
- Ability to wear proper PPE such as safety glasses, safety shoes, and hearing protection.
