Overview

The Physical Security Systems Administrator works within a team-based environment to provide direction, installation, support, and service for physical security systems and technology including, access control, alarm systems, turnstiles, video management systems, and associated applications and peripherals. This work is accomplished through collaboration with campus partners, vendors, and other university community members. Respond to incoming service tickets or requests and provide management of these requests for the Security Project Engineering division with the Global Card Services and Security Systems unit within DCS for New York and global sites. Provide first-line troubleshooting and tier-one physical security technology support, including diagnosing and repairing hardware, recommending solutions, and checking that problems have been corrected, and maintaining security system electronic schematic documentation. Facilitate smooth operation of physical security technology hardware and software and electronic security systems for DCS physical security technology systems; support installation, testing, maintenance, upgrades, and administration of opethe rating system and application software; monitor systems for performance and security; assist with implementation and execution of system policies to adhere with departmental policies and standards in conjunction with tier two level support from Technical Operations and Support within DCS. Maintain productive working relationships with the Division of Campus Safety and other essential campus partners including NYU IT, Facilities and Construction Management and the Office of Construction Management. Ensure that the Department of Campus Safetyâ™s information technology infrastructure is being maintained, and is utilized in compliance with all New York University standards. Support NYUIT data privacy standards and information security policies. Participate in physical security assessments with the Director, of Security Project Engineering and document any and all corrective actions needed to address or mitigate security risks. Serve as the customer-facing contact for new requests for physical security technology requests and/or small projects. Assist the Director, of Security Project Engineering in gathering requirements of physical security technology for new capital projects. Will be a member of the capital project team for capital projects involving physical security technology.


Responsibilities

Required Education:
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent
Preferred Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or some related field.
Required Experience:
2+ years of related experience with system administration including installation, maintenance, and support, or equivalent combination of education and experience. May require related specific experience with any of the following: operating systems, servers, hardware, network administration, authentication systems, client-server applications, designing/developing system enhancements and software applications, programming experience with modern languages and, application software, protocols, tools, and utilities.
Preferred Experience:
1+ years experience with incident management using a problem management tool (ServiceLink). or 1+ years relevant experience with Production support activities. or 1+ years experience with physical security technology systems, hardware, and software in a campus safety or law enforcement environment.
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Familiarity with multi-vendor hardware/software management, security, and network/Internet protocols. May require any of the following: problem identification/resolution, performance management/tuning. Knowledge of related large-scale computing systems and/or product installs and maintenance. Ability to provide technical support for complex, large-scale computing systems projects. Ability to clearly communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiencesence. Excellent organizational and written and verbal communication skills. Familiarity with Microsoft Windows, Active Directory, and backup solutions.
Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Knowledge of VMware, IIS and SQL, Lenel Access Control, Genetec Video Management, Turnstiles, Axis Cameras


Qualifications

In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $85,000.00 to USD $104,500.00. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
