This is a licensed pharmacist position. The pharmacist is critical to the University Health Center (UHC). The pharmacist will be responsible for dispensing medications to the students, faculty, staff, and affiliates of the University of Maryland in accordance with local, state, and federal pharmacy laws. This includes all aspects of workflow from typing up, filling, checking and ringing prescriptions and OTC items. The pharmacist will be responsible for maintaining accurate documentation and inventory of medications and other pharmacy supplies. The pharmacist may be assigned other duties as needed by the pharmacy manager. The pharmacist should be able to administer vaccinations independently.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
  • Doctorate in Pharmacy (PharmD), Maryland Board of Pharmacy License (required)
  • Maryland Certification to Administer Vaccinations (required)
  • CPR Certification (required)
  • Must maintain licensure and certification for the duration of employment.

Experience:
3 years as a pharmacist in a retail setting
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Ability to use computer software for prescription drug management and point-of-sale transactions.
  • Ability to manage drug interactions, resolve contraindications, and recommend appropriate therapy for any given diagnosis.
  • Ability to research the medical literature for evidence-based information regarding any specific drug.
  • Ability to resolve complex third-party payer rejections and process prior authorizations.
  • Ability to conduct independent vaccination events as assigned.
  • Ability to direct and delegate tasks to technicians and student employees as appropriate.
  • Ability to perform cash, credit, and check reconciliation and deposits.
  • Ability to multitask and work accurately in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal pharmacy laws.
  • Knowledge of pharmacy standards of practice.
  • Knowledge of federal confidentiality and HIPAA/FERPA regulations.
