This position is through the PEAK temporary program at OU and is located in the Stephenson Cancer Center at OUHSC.

Description: We are looking for individuals to assist as lab techs for a department at our OKC Health Science Center campus. This would be a great position for someone to gain hands on experience in a laboratory setting. 

Performs routine tests and analyses in a laboratory using appropriate technical equipment and instruments.    Performs diagnostic laboratory tests and examinations according to standardized procedures, records and reports results.   

Duties:

  • Prepare reagents and media
  • Help with cell culture
  • Conduct experiments
  • Help extract (PCR, WB analyses etc.)
  • Analyze data and record keeping
  • Lab-ware cleaning
  • Participate in animal experiments
  • Order and maintain lab supplies
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Job Requirements

Required Education: High School Diploma or GED, AND:

Basic biology laboratory experience


Skills:

  • Knowledge of laboratory procedures
  • Knowledge of the proper handling of chemicals and biohazardous materials
  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations in different units of measurement  
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite or other relevant programs
  • Detail oriented and excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing
