Description

 

The Department of Visual Arts at the University of Chicago invites applications for a position as part-time Lecturer to teach painting and in the general arts curriculum. The expected start date of the position is September 1, 2024 or as soon as possible thereafter. The selected candidate will teach three to four courses per year in visual arts, especially in the department's undergraduate program , selected in consultation with the department, and based on curricular needs. Other duties would include studio visits with BA and MFA students, advising at least one student in the “studio track,’ participation in quarter-end critiques for BA and MFA students and MFA thesis reviews, and serving on MFA thesis committees as needed. The initial term of appointment will be for a minimum of 3 years, with longer appointment terms possible depending on the selected candidate’s experience and qualifications.


Qualifications

Applicants must have:

  • a record of successfully exhibiting original painting, preferably in multiple genres;
  • an MFA;
  • and experience teaching at the University level.
