Position Summary

The University of New Mexico’s Project ECHO has an amazing opportunity for an Operations Manager to join our Communications and Marketing team!

Project ECHO is growing rapidly to serve the needs of underserved communities with our “all teach, all learn” model. In the next year, Project ECHO will be launching dozens of new programs and initiatives to support the state of New Mexico, the U.S and our global partners. 

As a successful Operations Manager, you will play an instrumental role in supporting the smooth and successful operations of the communications and marketing teams’ local, national, and global projects.

The Operations Manager’s primary focus will be to:

  • Develop and implement an effective procedure for managing communications and marketing projects and content calendars for Project ECHO
  •  Develop an effective system for the intake of new projects, working with the director and managers to create assignments and deadlines
  • Design appropriate data tracking and analysis to enhance operational efficiency of the team
  • Design and administer an effective and consistent system for file storage, sharing and collaboration
  • Plan and oversee all team activities, and meeting schedules to ensure peak performance and productivity of all team members
  • Works with Project ECHO’s value’s committee to lead trainings and team building events that motivate and inspire the Communications team
  • Review grants, grant proposals and contracts to identify appropriate deliverables and report via tracking system

Examples of programs we and others run include infectious disease control (Hepatitis C, HIV), mental health and addiction treatment, literacy, math, climate mitigation and many more.  

Project ECHO is funded in part by philanthropic grants and gifts from organizations such as the GE Foundation, the Helmsley Charitable Trust, the Bristol Myers Squibb Foundation, the Merck Foundation, Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the US Government.  Additionally, for programming benefitting New Mexico we receive support from the NM Legislature, the New Mexico Human Services Department and the New Mexico Department of Health.

We work with partners all over the world and work hours outside of normal business hours may be required. We are fortunate to have access to advanced technology, which will require some teleworking.

Conditions of Employment
  • Employees who provide services or work in patient care or clinical areas are required to be in compliance with the University's influenza vaccination requirement.
  • If located at the UNM Children's Campus, successful candidate must pass a comprehensive post-offer, pre-employment criminal and New Mexico Children, Youth and Families Department (CYFD) fingerprint background check, and a continued successful status will be verified by periodic future background checks.
Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; at least 2 years of experience managing at least one of the following functional areas: fiscal services, administration and/or human resources AND 3 years of additional experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience using a project planning software tool such as Microsoft Projects, Trello, or Confluence

  Experience and/or training in Agile Project Management

Experience Working in a Collaborative Matrixed Structure
