Position Summary

The Radiologic Sciences Program within the Department of Radiology at the University of New Mexico School of Medicine is seeking an experienced Nuclear Medicine Technology instructor for the position of Lecturer, non-tenure track. This is a 0.50 FTE position with a year-to-year renewable contract. For Nuclear Medicine Technology students, this is a degree-granting program for the Bachelor of Science degree in Radiologic Sciences, concentration in Nuclear Medicine.


This position teaches in the Fall, Spring, and Summer sessions (including Radiopharmacy, Physics, and Instrumentation, and Essentials of Nuclear Medicine). In addition to classroom teaching, responsibilities include clinical supervision of students on rotation at various affiliated institutions around the area and developing on-line courses as appropriate to the program. 


Duties and Responsibilities include:

·         Teach assigned courses in Nuclear Medicine Technology and Radiologic Sciences (didactic, clinical, and laboratory courses)

·         Provide students with clear course expectations, evaluations and timelines through a carefully written and approved syllabus

·         Adequately prepare all course materials and lessons, including providing interesting and relevant assignments that demonstrate learning outcomes in a real-life setting

·         Work with each student through their learning process, including identifying and referring at-risk students to specific academic support services.

·         Provide all necessary documentation for students, including timely and fair grading of assignments and timely reports on all students at the completion of a course of study

·         Treat each student with value and respect

·         Provide timely feedback and grading to students and provide clear and timely reports on all students at the completion of each course

·         Participate in administrative committees and professional development activities, including regularly scheduled in-services and on-going learning in Radiology Science content areas

·         Adhere to and supports school policies and procedures

·         Work as a team player


Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

·         BA/BS degree in Radiologic Sciences or related field

·         American Registry of Radiology (AART) registered in Nuclear Medicine and/or Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) certified

·         Minimum two years’ experience as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist

·         Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States



Preferred Qualifications:

·         Master's degree or higher

·         Experience as an instructor

·         Experience in curriculum design, instructional methodology, educational testing and evaluation, and educational psychology

·         Knowledge of physics pertaining to Nuclear Medicine

·         Previous experience in CT and/or MRI advanced imaging

·         A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities.
