Job Summary:

The eXtraOrdinarY Kids Clinic and Research Program at Children’s Hospital Colorado is seeking to hire a motivated individual to join our dynamic team as a Research Services Professional (open rank). You will work as an integral team member on multiple research studies that have direct clinical impact. This position may involve patient contact, data science, grant preparation, and contribution to scholarly products depending on the interests and strengths of the candidate. It is the ideal opportunity for early career researchers considering MD or PhD programs or other clinical and research careers.      

Since 2007, our eXtraOrdinarY Kids Clinic team has been at the forefront of clinical research in X&Y chromosome variations. We are dedicated to further understanding of the diverse phenotype of individuals with sex chromosome aneuploidies, including Klinefelter syndrome (47,XXY), Turner syndrome (45,X and variants), Trisomy X (47,XXX), 47,XYY, 48,XXYY, and more. Individually, these conditions are rare and underdiagnosed, however when taken together these conditions affect 1 in 400 individuals. Our translational research program seeks to improve the lives of individuals with X&Y variations throughout the lifespan by interdisciplinary collaboration, incorporation of diverse research methods, and development of robust and sustainable resources to support ongoing discovery. Current studies include clinical trials, multicenter registries, qualitative and mixed methods, community-based participatory research, and epidemiology. Our research is funded by the NIH, CDC, Boettcher Foundation, Turner Syndrome Global Alliance, AXYS, and more.   

The ideal candidate will be eager to learn, self-directed, dependable, and team oriented. In addition to the traditional roles of a clinical research assistant, we are seeking to hire individuals with specific interest and skills in database management, scientific writing, and/or public relations. Multiple positions may be available to tailor the role to the candidate and the team priorities. Applicants seeking full- or part-time positions will be considered. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify, recruit, and enroll patients for clinical studies.
  • Schedule and prepare for research visits.
  • Communicate with participants and families directly.
  • Coordinate research visits.
  • Collect data (chart review, research assessments, surveys, etc).
  • Work with community stakeholders including steering committees and advisory boards.
  • Enter, validate, audit, and clean data; database management.
  • Build data collection tools and reports in REDCap.
  • Perform statistical analyses.
  • Prepare figures and tables to visualize/summarize data.
  • Conduct literature reviews.
  • Assist with writing abstracts, manuscripts, grants, and other scientific documents.
  • Draft presentations and posters for professional meetings.
  • Create study advertisements, logos, newsletters and other community-friendly materials to support recruitment, retention, and dissemination of findings.
  • Order study supplies and keep accurate inventory.
  • Process participant reimbursements, travel, and other expenses.
  • Prepare and submit IRB applications, amendments, and continuing reviews.
  • Create and maintain study regulatory documents and create/modify study SOPs.
  • Cross-train in multiple roles within the team.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

Entry Level:

  • Bachelor’s degree in any field.

Intermediate Level:

  • Bachelor’s degree in any field.
  • One (1) year clinical research or related experience.

Senior Level:

  • Bachelor’s degree in any field.
  • Two (2) years clinical research or related experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Education and/or experience in life sciences including genetics, child development, psychology, physiology, endocrinology, exercise science, neuroscience, etc.
  • Education and/or experience in biostatistics. 
  • Experience in pediatric research.
  • Experience in scientific writing.
  • Familiarity with REDCap, Epic, EndNote, Prism Graphpad, R and other software for research tasks.
  • Competence in conducting a literature search.
  • Experience working with children and/or individuals with developmental disabilities.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Excellent written communication.
  • Ability to multitask.
  • Ability to successfully work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability and willingness to work with neurodiverse children and their families.
  • Fluency in Microsoft office products.

Anticipated Salary Range:

The starting salary range (or hiring range ) for this position has been established as 

Entry: $47,743 to $60,729

Intermediate: $51,956 to $66,088

Senior: $56,169 to $71,447

The above salary range (or hiring range ) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime compensation depending on the level.
