Job Summary:

This is a unique opportunity to work in an academic and clinically busy Pediatric Orthopedic Sports Medicine practice treating a wide range of patients and athletes. The position is a full-time faculty position in the Department of Orthopedics. This position reports to the Pediatric Sports Medicine Center Medical Director and as needed, to the Chief of Pediatric Orthopedics, Chair of the Orthopedics Department, and the Department of Orthopedics Director of Finance and Administration. Clinical practice is based in the Children’s Hospital Colorado network of care sites.    

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct focused evaluations, through direct patient care, on a specific patient population to assess their health concerns and injuries.
  • Assess and treat acute/chronic medical problems.
  • Prescribe medications, PT, OT, imaging, studies, and DME.
  • Utilize best practice or evidence in patient care decisions.
  • Work collaboratively with clinical team to optimize efficiency while at the same time delivering exceptional patient care.
  • Demonstrate proficiency and timeliness in documentation of patient’s injuries, operations, and other significant information, and use of current Electronic Medical Record and be an available resource to other health care providers.
  • Clinical outreach responsibilities include high school and club youth sports medical oversight of athletic trainers and community education of coaches, parents, and athletes on a routine basis.
  • Perform sideline emergency lifesaving procedures in cases such as cardiac arrest, respiratory arrest, massive hemorrhage, fracture or joint dislocation reductions and stabilization or similar emergencies.
  • Actively pursue, participate in, and publish research as well as mentor residents, fellows, and other faculty in research endeavors.   
  • Participate in the education of medical students, pediatric and family medicine residents, and pediatric family medicine sports medicine fellows through active involvement in clinical and didactic educational programs (attend weekly conferences and provide lectures).
  • Participate in community outreach events including giving educational talks, organizing, planning, and attending.
  • Enhance professional growth and development through participation in local, regional, national, and international educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings, and workshops as a participant or speaker.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

This is an open rank position and could be categorized as Assistant Professoror Associate Professor based on experience and qualifications as indicated below:  

Assistant Professor

  • Board certification in primary discipline
  • CAQSM board certified/eligible primary care sports medicine physician with completion of a one-year fellowship in sports medicine.
  • Colorado State Medical License  
  • CPR certified  

Associate Professor

  • Board certification in primary discipline.
  • CAQSM board certified in sports medicine.
  • Colorado State Medical License. 
  • CPR certified.
  • Minimum of 5 years clinical practice experience in sprots medicine.
  • 3-5 peer reviewed publications in the past 3 years. 

Preferred Qualifications:  

  • Experience/expertise in musculoskeletal diagnostic and therapeutic ultrasound. 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:  

The applicant must be self-directed, detail-oriented, and adaptable in a high-intensity environment. Basic science and/or clinical research skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required as well.

    Anticipated Pay Range:

    The starting salary range (or hiring range ) for this position has been established as HIRING RANGE:

    Assistant Professor
    $175,000 – $200,000  

    Associate Professor
    $200,000 - $215,000

    The above salary range (or hiring range ) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation unless it is non-exempt.
