Job Summary
The Program Specialist is instrumental in offering direct support across administrative and program-related responsibilities for Talent Ready Utah. This encompasses coordinating and administering activities tied to K12 workforce development initiatives aligned to growing and supporting the Life Sciences industry cluster.
The Program Specialist will work under the direction of the Director of K12 Initiatives and will be responsible for the implementation of the Utah Bioindustrial Manufacturing Initiative and project plan. Additionally, the Program Specialist will collaborate and coordinate with the Utah STEM Action Center to further project implementation and attain anticipated objectives and deliverables associated with the Bioindustrial Manufacturing Initiative.
This position has one-time funds available; meaning, the employment term for this position is up to July 31, 2025. This salary for the duration of this position is $59,268.75 for a full time (1.00 FTE) employee.
Responsibilities
The Program Specialist will have the following responsibilities:
  • Coordinate project implementation for the Utah Bioindustrial Manufacturing Initiative to drive and attain goals, deliverables, and objectives.
  • Track and report the progress of project implementation to the Director of K12 Initiatives
  • Organize and convene key stakeholders representing industry, education, community partners, and organizations essential to project objectives and deliverables.
  • Convene and establish the Talent Advisory Board comprised of national and local content experts to develop assets supporting education program development.
  • Convene and establish the Bioindustrial Manufacturing Coalition of industry, government, and community leaders to further public and community outreach goals.
  • Represent Talent Ready Utah and K12 Life Science Initiatives at district and state events
  • Coordinate with K12 and Higher Education partners to align educational programs to industry workforce needs.
  • Convene education partners to support the creation of stackable credentialed pathways.
  • Participate in BioMADE convenings.
  • Convene with industry to expand and coordinate industry partnerships and participation
  • Collaborate with Utah STEM Action Center and the Utah Bioindustrial Manufacturing Communication Specialist to:
    • Collect data from project partners, including cost share and expenditures
    • Develop required programmatic reports
    • Conduct site visits with project partners as needed
    • Organize and coordinate logistics supporting educators’ professional learning activities
  • Travel throughout the Wasatch area in addition to minor out-of- area travel
  • Coordinate and balance multiple projects with TRU team
  • Convene and coordinate effective meetings
  • Coordinate, plan and host an event as needed
  • Coordinate and work with marketing agencies and others on the common messaging of programs

  • Operational knowledge of Microsoft Office and related computer software, including Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word/Excel.
  • Ability to work well with others, specifically industry and education stakeholders
  • Ability to write talking points and messaging
  • Knowledge of or interested in learning best practices in other states as it relates to workforce training programs is preferred
Minimum Qualifications
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred in business, communications or a closely related field; or equivalent work experience in a related field will be considered (2 years of experience is equivalent to 1 year of education).

Experience
  • 2-4 years of experience in a related field is preferred
