Scope of Position

The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center – James Cancer Hospital’s mission is focused on integrating quality patient care, education, teaching and research. The Nurse Manager-Inpatient Care Management leads a team of care providers cultivating collaboration, enthusiasm, and mutual respect. The team provides patient care and supportive services directed towards achievement of positive patient care outcomes, maximizing the patient’s involvement in his/her own plan of care, improving service levels, reducing the length of hospitalization, and decreasing costs. Under the manager’s leadership, patients and their families will experience the benefits of patient-focused care through the integrated skills of all care team members.


 
Position Summary

The Nurse Manager-Inpatient Care Management has 24-hour responsibility for the planning, organization, implementation and evaluation of Patient Care Resource Management activities for their area of responsibility. The PCRM Manager is key in operationalizing the Cancer Program’s mission, values and goals and creates an environment that supports the nursing professional practice model.

 

The Nurse Manager-Inpatient Care Management is responsible for managing, guiding, coaching, and evaluating the work performance of Patient Care Resource Management staff and other ancillary staff in their designated areas.  Ongoing collaboration with the Social Work Manager and other patient care departments/areas that relate directly or indirectly to patient care operations and services is essential.

Minimum Qualifications

 Master’s Degree required.  RN licensure required; 5 years clinical experience applicable to patient population, home care, hospice, community agency, and/or payer relations preferred; knowledge of complexity of patient care required; prior demonstration of leadership or management skills preferred. Demonstrated computer skills, including word processing, spreadsheets and relational databases desired.  Excellent written and verbal communication skills required. Experience as a Patient Care Resource Manager preferred.
