Job Summary:

The Department of Psychiatry (DOP) at the University of Colorado School of Medicine (CU), the Division of Child and Adolescent Mental Health (DCAMH), and the Pediatric Mental Health Institute (PMHI) of Children’s Hospital Colorado (CHCO) has an opening for a full-time faculty Psychologist in the NSC and Outpatient Neurodevelopmental Disorders Specialty Programs.

The CU DCAMH, PMHI, and CHCO are combining to transform children’s mental health care in Colorado, building a coordinated system, grounded in collaboration and partnership, that provides all children high-quality, evidence-based, youth- and family-centered care through an ambitious and comprehensive strategic plan. As part of this transformative work, we are creating comprehensive, evidence-based, outpatient specialty care programs, including a Neurodevelopmental Disorders Program. This program will complement our well-established NSC program, which provides inpatient/day treatment interdisciplinary care for youth with an intellectual or developmental disability who are experiencing a mental health crisis. We are looking for a psychologist to join our efforts in becoming a national leader in the assessment and treatment of neurodevelopmental disorders.

Key Responsibilities:

Clinical Care Responsibilities

  • Provide direct clinical care to patients and families seen in PMHI clinical services
  • Collaborate with internal and external providers involved in a patient’s care to coordinate on the treatment plan and progress
  • Provide clinical consultation for complex cases
  • Conduct psychological assessment and/or functional assessments with patients, as appropriate. Use results of assessments to inform development of individualized treatment plans and/or behavior plans, as needed 

Other Responsibilities/All Faculty Requirements

  • Contribute to the DOP teaching and scholarship in ways consistent with the expectations of CU faculty, advancing the standing of the Department
  • Engage in service to the department, hospital, and local/regional/national organizations
  • Maintain eligibility for CU faculty appointment

Work Location:

Hybrid – this role is eligible for a hybrid schedule of 3-5 days per week on campus and as needed for in-person meetings.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:  

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.  

This is an open rank position and could be categorized as Instructor, Senior Instructor, Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Professor based on experience and qualifications as indicated below:

There are several factors that will impact the rank including previous or current rank, years of experience, and years licensed.  Determination of rank is done based on the interview of the individual candidate. 

Instructor:

  • 1-3 years of relevant clinical experience at rank or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum degree qualifications: Ph.D. or Psy.D. 

Senior Instructor:

  • 1-3 years of relevant clinical experience at rank or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum degree qualifications: Ph.D. or Psy.D.

Assistant Professor:

  • 1-3 years of relevant clinical experience at rank or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum degree qualifications: Ph.D. or Psy.D.

Associate Professor:

  • 4-7 years of relevant clinical experience at rank or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum degree qualifications: Ph.D. or Psy.D.

Professor:

  • 7+ years of relevant clinical experience at rank or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum degree qualifications: Ph.D. or Psy.D.

Preferred Qualifications (applicable for all ranks):

  • Experience working in an intensive clinical setting delivering ABA services to patient with developmental disabilities.
  • Experience providing supervision and consultation to BCBAs.
  • Experience working in an academic medical center.
  • Experience working in an APA-accredited training program.
  • Preference will be given to those who are eager to engage in all aspects of the academic mission (clinical, teaching, scholarship, and service). 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Clinical expertise in flexibly providing evidence-based assessment, treatment, and consultation to youth with NDDs and their families
  • Demonstrated success in developing, implementing, and evaluating clinical programming in a complex and fast-paced environment
  • Ability to convene stakeholders and lead a change management process
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently
  • Capacity for flexibility and adaptability in different work situations
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Effective time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse population of faculty, staff, trainees, patients, and families
  • Knows and applies best practices in diversity and inclusion during interactions with patients, families, providers, and other team members
  • Ability to provide effective supervision to mental health trainees and consultation with other mental health professionals
  • Knowledge of research and quality improvement methodology, as well as the ability to independently conduct research and/or quality improvement projects

Anticipated Pay Range:

The starting salary range (or hiring range ) for this position has been established as HIRING RANGE:

Instructor: $105,000 to $120,000

Sr. Instructor: $105,000 to $120,000

Assistant Professor: $105,000 to $120,000

Associate Professor: $130,000 to $145,000

Professor: $175,000 to $205,000

The above salary range (or hiring range ) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation unless it is non-exempt.
