Here’s a Glimpse of the Job and Your Opportunity to Contribute   

As the Network Engineer, you will configure, troubleshoot, and resolve network issues/outages, and provide preventative maintenance for Cisco Routers and Switches and Building Automation Systems such as Siemens and Johnson Controls.   Texas A&M is designing and developing a next generation enterprise network which involves both ground up construction and renovations allowing for a variety of problem solving and on the job learning.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent combination of education

  • 2 years of networking design experience

  • Must have strong interpersonal skills

  • Must be a United States citizen, permanent resident, or a person granted asylum or refugee status

  • Experience trouble shooting Aruba wireless and Cisco switches (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Assists with network design activities

  • Assists with tests used to certify network to required installation design standards

  • Helps analyze, troubleshoot, track, and repair data communications networks

  • Establishes contacts with vendors for networking support and problem resolution. Confers with clients to define networking requirements

  • Documents network engineering designs, plans, maps, methods, and procedures

  • Assists with new technology deployments and integration testing

  • Helps monitor and maintain network security

  • Assists with the evaluation of new technologies to determine their applicability with regards to clients’ needs
