Multimedia Production Support Specialist

Primary Function: This position is responsible for fulfilling daily requests for preparing, producing, duplicating, and distributing multimedia materials in support of classrooms, online classes and other campus and community events. Incumbents work with web streaming tools for producing live university and classroom events. Advises and trains faculty and staff in operational aspects of audio-visual equipment, and presentation resources. Researches and recommends multimedia equipment acquisition. Maintains equipment and controls supply usage in support of campus needs. This position requires direct contact with faculty, staff and students at Bellevue University.

Essential Functions:

Multimedia production for students, staff and external customers

  • Produces multimedia content.
  • Operates video cameras to record scenes for web streaming on live to tape recordings.
  • Sets up and performs live shots for web streaming.
  • Sets up cameras and related equipment to produce photographs and special effects.
  • Assembles studio sets, select and arrange cameras, audio, or lighting equipment to be used during filming.
  • Composes and frames each shot, applying the technical aspects of light, lenses, film, filters and camera settings.
  • Uses cameras in any of several different camera mounts such as stationary, track mounted or crane mounted.
  • Produces photographic audio and video materials for faculty, students, staff and contract clients.
  • Provides specialized video recordings and audio support for specified classes and events.
  • Responsible for pre and post production to include: creating still and motion graphics, non-linear editing of audio and video, editing of still photography, determining appropriate shooting environment and lighting, and assisting in the creation of scripts.
  • Assists with live and on demand web streaming using Zoom and Kaltura for internal events, external events and classes.

Event support for internal and external clients

  • Works with the manager to determine objectives and requirements for events such as meetings and conferences to include recording, lighting, audio, and streaming content for small- and large-scale events.
  • Responsible for setting up AV equipment in the facilities according to the customers’ requirements.
  • Being present or available during events as required to provide tech support.

Maintenance

  • Tests, cleans, maintains, and repairs broadcast equipment to include testing microphones to ensure proper working conditions.
  • Performs periodic and preventative maintenance of AV and multimedia equipment.
  • Troubleshoots equipment and initiates repair activities as required.
  • Creates and maintains technical instructions concerning the maintenance and repair of equipment.
  • Stay abreast of trends and industry best practices in AV and Multimedia operations, management, technologies, sourcing strategies, procedures, and changing end-user needs.
  • Researches and recommends multimedia equipment for acquisition.
  • Reviews activities of similar institutions and coordinates cross-matrix communication as applicable.

Special Projects

  • Supports and records Bellevue University Commencement ceremony and commencement events in winter and spring.
  • Supports special multimedia production projects for internal and external customers.
  • Prepares and conducts ad-hoc and scheduled user training.
  • Duplicates multimedia content to include assisting clients in selecting “best fit” media and content, and converting presentations to “internet friendly” formats.

Marginal Functions:

  • Performs other duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • Associate's Degree in media, broadcasting, mass communication, or related area required (equivalent years of related work experience may be substituted in lieu of degree).
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience maintaining and managing audio visual equipment and resources required.
  • Experience with photography, videography to include photography and nonlinear video editing required.
  • Experience with live video production required.
  • Experience with graphic design, and audio production preferred.
  • Must maintain a high degree of professionalism and confidentiality in handling personnel-related matters and College business.
  • Ability to troubleshoot common computer desktop issues.
  • Excellent customer service orientation with strong verbal and written communication skills, required
  • Ability to interact and work effectively with diverse internal and external customers.
  • Solid knowledge and skills with Adobe Creative Suite, including Premiere Pro, After Effects, and Photoshop.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) software.
  • Must be able to drive a vehicle and be insurable.

Working Conditions:

  • Possesses valid driver’s license and the ability to travel in the local area.
  • Frequent walking, standing, crouching or kneeling is required.
  • Sitting for extended periods of time
  • Ability to use PC and other office and technical equipment.
  • Lifting of 35 pounds frequently.
  • Lifting of 75 occasionally.
