Job Summary

The Senior Multimedia Technician works to support faculty, students, and staff in the use and care of classroom multimedia and digital video capture equipment; regularly advances knowledge of emerging audio, video, and multimedia technologies; and coordinates multimedia technology for class and event sessions within the scope of their area of responsibility.  The Senior Multimedia Technician coordinates the work of multimedia technicians in the field, including assigning work and performing quality control as needed.   This position supports afternoon and evening classes and events on the Cambridge campus.


Position Description

  • Supports faculty and other clients with multimedia in classrooms and event spaces;
  • Records course meetings and events;
  • In a highly skilled manner, operates video and multimedia equipment, image capture and
    annotation presentation technology, live streaming, a range of portable media equipment,
    and video and audio recording systems;
  • Coordinates with camera crew and network accessibility issues as needed;
  • Is responsible for live streaming and recording on a number of platforms throughout
    campus depending upon the infrastructure available in the location;
  • Prepares and operates equipment during recording or live streaming sessions; packs
    portable equipment after shoots, carries equipment to and from shoot locations;
  • Assists with related duties as needed, such as file uploads, inventory, operating classroom
    multimedia equipment, and infrastructure maintenance.

Basic Qualifications

3+ years of experience in professional video production, and multimedia equipment at the industrial, educational, or broadcast level.


Additional Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree or technical school certification desirable.
  • Successful experience providing multimedia customer service in a fast-paced, academic environment.
  • Proven ability to supervise, deliver professional customer service, and manage multiple simultaneous work assignments.
  • Analytical and troubleshooting skills and the ability to identify and resolve technical process issues.
  • Effective interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills. CTS, Crestron DMC-E, and Dante certifications are preferred.
  • College background in related multimedia and /or technology preferred.
  • Ability to work with a range of constituents and to develop solutions to service problems in a client-friendly manner.
  • Knowledge of a range of computer software and operating systems is preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift 25 pounds.
  • Applicant must be able to climb ladders, walk distances, and move unencumbered.

Work Format Details

This position is based primarily on-campus, in Massachusetts. This may include in-person during emergency situations (if applicable). Additional details will be discussed during the interview process. Certain visa types may limit work location. Individuals must meet work location sponsorship requirements prior to employment.
