Here’s a Glimpse of the Job:

Are you looking for an opportunity to coordinate the development and implementation of new and exciting library projects? Texas A&M University is looking for a new Curriculum and Instruction Librarian (Associate Librarian) within the Medical Sciences Library (MSL)! In this position you would work on projects focused on the curricular integration of library materials, programs, and services in health sciences and veterinary medicine. We would need you to coordinate the assessment of related projects, such as instructional outcomes, promotion of library instruction into course curriculum, and student success. You would also have the opportunity to collaborate with colleagues in facilitating virtual and/or hybrid instructional sessions at our remote locations. Opportunities to Contribute:   

  • Coordinate assessment input and recommendations regarding collection and resource development 

  • Assist with reference and instructional consultations and mediated searches 

  • Serve as project lead and coordinate work of other librarians related to specific goals and outcomes 

  • Collaborate with University Library colleagues, Texas A&M Health, the School of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences, and clinical affiliates to enhance library partnerships 

  • Provide research and education programs with a high level of customer service for students, faculty, and staff 

  • Participate in professional organizations and scholarly activities to incorporate new ideas and technologies into library services and programs 

  • Coordinate the delivery of emerging research and curricular trends within health sciences, academic librarianship, and medical education 

 

Qualifications:  

  • Master's degree in Library Science 

  • Five years of related experience in a public library, academic, or specialized library or service 

 

A well-qualified candidate for this position will also possess:  

  • Master’s degree from an American Library Association (ALA) accredited program 

  • Membership in the Medical Library Association’s Academy of Health Information Professionals (AHIP) 

  • Evidence of professional development or continued education in education, instructional design, health information, and/or evidence-based practices 

  • 3 or more years of instruction and/or education experience 

  • Experience teaching evidence-based principles to professional and/or graduate students, and/or faculty initiating and evaluating library services and programs 

  • Experience developing and implementing instructional tools, materials, and/or programs 

  • Ability to work across electronic platforms, learn new technologies, and integrate technology into workflows 

  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects 

  • Knowledge of evidence-based medicine and research methodology 

  • Ability to map academic curricula to library services 

 

Minimum starting salary: $6,027.92 per month
