Job Summary
Responsibilities
- Works closely with Faculty Directors of Medical Student Courses.
- Organizes and coordinates the required clerkship for junior medical students and all medical student elective courses relating to anesthesia and critical care.
- Maintains information on the web site, chalk.uchicago.edu. Screens and approves applications from university and other medical students who request an anesthesia elective.
- Obtains grades from faculty for students and submits grades to the Office of Medical Education.
- Acts as liaison between the Surgery and Anesthesia and Critical Care Departments and the Pritzker Office of Medical Education to keep curricula current.
- Meets with the medical students to receive feedback on the rotations and monitors submission of clerkship evaluations.
- Coordinates all aspects of conferences held in the Department including scheduling speakers, maintaining conference room and audiovisual equipment, publishing lecture schedules and monthly conference calendars, and arranging for refreshments.Posts department conference schedules on the web site.Approves reservations for departmental conference rooms and maintains all records for scheduling.
- Works closely with the Vice-Chairman for Education to identify appropriate Visiting Professors both within the institution and nationally. Coordinates schedules of visiting speakers, including invitations, itinerary, travel arrangements, and reimbursements.
- Maintains detailed records of conferences for Continuing Medical Education, including lecture schedules, lecture handouts, evaluations, attendance sheets, and conflict of interest forms. Coordinates with CME staff to maintain accurate and quality records. Manages evaluation database: survey design, collection and analysis for faculty and residents and DACC conferences.
- Completes ad hoc projects as requested, including online data collection program and system. Knowledge of shared network capabilities necessary. Responsible for scanning and maintaining electronic rotation manuals.
- Participates in day-to-day operations of accredited and non-accredited residency and fellowship training programs and ensures compliance with organizations such as the American Council of Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) and Residency Review Committees (RRC).
- Coordinates and interprets requirements of the training program, including accreditation, duty schedules, evaluation process, resident/fellowship recruitment, Match process, orientation and employees relations.
- Has a moderate/high level of authority in reporting and ensuring compliance with procedures regarding licensing, moonlighting, annual contracts, and initial and re-credentialing of trainees.
- Performs other related work as needed.

- Ability to handle complex and demanding tasks with diplomacy and tact.
