The division of Instructional Support (IS) part of Health Sciences Academic Services and Facilities (HSAS&F), currently has an outstanding opportunity for a Media Maintenance Technician 2 (MMT2). This individual is responsible for procurement, maintenance, and operation of instructional technologies for HSAS&F spaces in the Health Sciences building (HSB), Health Sciences Education Building (HSEB) Foege buildings, and South Campus Center (SCC). This position will contribute to the Instructional Support mission by developing an environment of continuous improvement, pursuing innovation, and delivering world class customer service.

Instructional support provides frontline customer service to the Health Sciences Community, which includes scheduling, classroom & technology, and laboratory support services. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Reporting to the Media Maintenance Supervisor, the Media Maintenance Technician 2 provides operational support for the teaching and learning technology in the Health Sciences, Health Sciences Education Building, Foege, and the South Campus Center common spaces, classrooms, conference rooms, and special event spaces.

A successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to innovation and world class customer service while maintaining compliance with established policies and procedures. They will independently and proactively perform work assignments, and devise methods and processes to meet new and unique work requirements and problems. Also, they must have experience working in the following areas:

AV TROUBLESHOOTING - 40%

This position supports the capture and delivery of audio and video through a variety of hardware and software solutions to support instructional research, and departmental needs. Providing world-class customer service with a commitment to creating a positive work environment.
• Identifying course, event, and space needs through client engagement with a focus on analyzing, troubleshooting, and repairing teaching and learning technologies.
• Supporting productions and learning space emergencies.
• Communicating internally and externally about the status of learning spaces, technology, and customer requests.

OFFICE ADMIN DUTIES - 25%

• This position will capture, process, and execute customer requests relating to event, course, and research support.
• While working with office support staff, the MMT2 is accountable for the orderly receipt, inventory, and storage of all incoming and outgoing packages related to Instructional Support A/V services.
• As part of a multifunctional team the MMT2 will have a thorough understanding of all service areas within Instructional Support and serves as a backup for event scheduling.
• Additionally, this position must be an engaged part of the HSAS&F team through participation in department wide initiatives, presentations, and team building activities.

PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE - 20%

• Daily equipment monitoring using management software; ensuring Solstice Pods, projectors, and other equipment are online.
• This role will work with the Media Maintenance Tech Supervisor to create a preventative maintenance schedule, and space refreshes.
o This would include quarterly cleanings of AV air filters, firmware updates on hardware, inventory of tagged hardware, cable testing, and yearly commissioning of our existing spaces.
• Developing, updating, and changing service policies and procedures to maintain compliance and meet customer’s changing needs.

TRAINING INSTRUCTIONAL SUPPORT STAFF - 10%

This role would involve the leading and mentoring of the instructional support staff by administering AV training throughout the Health Sciences complex.
• Including creating training schedules and checklists.
• Coordinating with Media Maintenance Supervisor about new AV trainings.

OPERATOR FOR EVENTS - 5%

• On occasion, this position may be required to start, assist customers during an event
o This would include making sure their device is properly connected, microphones are working, and correct A/V inputs are selected in their video conferencing software.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

One year of experience as a Media Maintenance Technician 1 OR Three years of experience as Media Maintenance Technician OR equivalent education/experience.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Associates degree in or coursework related to computer technology, media production, or equivalent work experience.
• Ability to quickly troubleshoot AV problems in a large lecture hall with up to 300 attendees.
• Excellent communication skills
• Capacity to interact with faculty during a stressful AV situation.
• Ability to communicate with stakeholders from the various Health Sciences schools
• Proficiency with hybrid learning equipment
• Knowledge of video conferencing software such as ZOOM and Panopto along with AV bridges.
• Ability to work independently and escalate issues to Media Tech Lead or Supervisor.
• Familiarity with Crestron, Extron, and AMX control systems along with Biamp DSP software, Dante devices, and other applicable hardware/software or the ability to learn.
• Experience with media production software packages such as Adobe Creative Suite and Final Cut Pro.
• Experience working with helpdesk ticketing systems, such as Freshdesk and Zendesk.

• May be required to accept variable work shift.
• Work may require access to confined spaces and heights using approved safety precautions.
• Must meet vaccination requirements.
• Ability to lift 20 – 30 lbs and move heavy material may be required.
• Must be able to be fitted for and wear a respirator on the job.
