Job Summary

Will perform diagnostic and therapeutic audiological services to patients who have, or wish to rule out, hearing loss as a cause of a communication disorder.

Minimum Education and Experience

Master’s degree in Audiology. License holder or qualified to obtain license to practice Audiology in the State of Texas. Certification by American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.

Preferred Education and Experience

Doctor of Audiology (AuD) Degree.

Minimum of 3 years’ experience in pediatric audiology to include newborn hearing screening, otoacoustic emissions, threshold auditory brainstem response (ABR) testing, visual reinforcement audiometry, conditioned play audiometry, and evaluation, selection and fitting of hearing aids on a pediatric population.

Experience in clinical supervision preferred.

Able and willing to work with and communicate in an empathetic, confidential, and professional manner to patients across age ranges and from all cultural linguistic and socioeconomic backgrounds

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Familiar with and performs all standard audiological procedures. Routinely obtains knowledge of new procedures and integrates that knowledge into daily duties. Recommends and dispenses amplification devices. Performs assignments in a variety of locations as assigned. Supervises students in training, externs, clinical fellows and paraprofessionals. Has administrative responsibility for program functions in Audiology. Instructs as assigned in U. T. Dallas classes in Audiology.

Additional Information

Must be licensed (or eligible for license) to practice audiology in the state of Texas and be certified by the American Speech-Language – Hearing Association.

Possible opportunity for training in cochlear implant programming.
