Job Summary | Overview: The Lowell Bennion Center for Community Engagement at the University of Utah is an international leader in community engagement and public service. The Bennion Center inspires and mobilizes people to strengthen communities through learning, scholarship, and advocacy. Our co-curricular programs, initiatives, and events, provide dynamic and compelling opportunities for students, faculty, staff, and community partners, to collaborate on issues and projects that improve health, quality of life, and foster justice in the community while educating students about their civic and social responsibilities. In 2020, the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching and Learning classified the University of Utah as a Community Engaged Institution. The Bennion Center is a critical part of the University’s experiential and educational strategy and serves as a hub for campus wide community engagement efforts. Position Summary: The Community Partner Programs Manager supports the Bennion Center’s strategic priorities through successful management, oversight, and promotion of U of U student involvement in co-curricular community engagement and student leadership. Responsibilities include mentoring and advising students on how to integrate community engagement into their academic experience; supporting community organizations as co-educational partners in student learning and community impact; and contributing to the vibrancy and success of the Bennion Center. The Community Partner Programs Manager is responsible for building and maintaining successful professional relationships with students, campus and community partners, and the Bennion Center staff. The Community Partner Programs Manager is part of a dynamic and interconnected team of staff and students, and reports directly to the Associate Director for Student Leadership and Development. The Community Partner Programs Manager is also expected to participate and engage as an active member of Bennion Center and campus-wide committees, task forces, and work groups as necessary and/or requested. The Community Partner Programs Manager must demonstrate the potential ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the position description. |

Minimum Qualifications | Bachelor’s degree in a related area or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience). Four years of progressively more responsible management experience. Background knowledge of hiring department’s area of specialization in order to analyze, plan and draw conclusions for recommendations to superiors. Demonstrated leadership skills in planning and directing employees and processes in order to effectively monitor and develop subordinates and to ensure the smooth operation of department. Master’s degree in a related area may be preferred. Applicants must demonstrate the potential ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the position description. |
