The Opportunity:

Join our Landscape team as a Manager of Landscape Operations and provide leadership in the direction and management of the Landscape and Natural Resources (LNR) Department. Primary responsibilities of overseeing all landscape operations including maintenance, irrigation, hardscape, projects, and spray team for UCF’s main campus and satellite facilities. You will manage all the landscape maintenance contacts for UCF’s satellite campuses and work with contractors on meeting UCF’s standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and coordinate landscape operations and maintenance functions in the Landscape and Natural Resources Department, overseeing daily operations of maintenance teams, irrigation team, project team, and horticulture team.

  • Assist with directing the overall program, including staff communication, setting priorities, developing and executing plans, tracking projects, managing budgets, and other duties as requested by the Director.

  • Develop and recommend departmental strategies, procedures, and policies. Implement and interpret departmental operational procedures.

  • Oversee landscape operations and maintenance program, manage contracts with outside landscape contractors, and supervise landscape superintendents.

  • Develop departmental budgets, including cost control strategies, operating funds, special projects, and expenditures.

  • Ensure sound fiscal policy and control, oversee departmental purchases, and coordinate purchases with Director.

  • Develop and oversee landscape standard operating procedures and workflow processes.

  • Contribute to career advancement and training programs for landscape operations staff.

  • Develop and implement PM programs (general maintenance, tree pruning, IPM plan).

  • Create trainings to align with higher education landscape standards and FNGLA/ISA/APPA certifications.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's or Master's degree and 4+ years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219. Click here for more information

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Clear and concise communication skills, both orally and in writing.

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with people of diverse backgrounds and educational experiences.

  • Organizational skills to implement and direct landscape design and construction activities.

  • Knowledge of landscape operations, experience in landscape construction and installation.

  • Familiarity with irrigation systems and horticultural materials and requirements.

  • Knowledge of regulatory and statutory issues related to departmental functions.

  • Experience in developing budgets and cost estimates for services, materials, and equipment.

  • Ability to read and interpret maps, plans, schematics, and blueprints.

  • Expertise in geographic information systems is a plus.
