Job Summary
This position has the opportunity to join a team setting that is engaging donors, alumni and the community around aspirational fundraising goals for the College of Health. The college has the largest student body in U of U Health and is among the largest colleges/schools at the university. The college is implementing a strategic effort to engage nearly 18,000 alumni. In addition, this position works with individuals, foundations, and corporations to raise funds for endowments and annual support. The College is a salient part of the transformation of health care, and this position will help to ensure its successful role through philanthropy. To learn more about us, please visit:

Responsibilities
· Build relationships and secure philanthropic support ($1,000 and above) through personal visits with donors and prospective donors, including individuals, businesses/corporations, and foundations.
· Inform potential contributors of the needs of the College of Health and encourage gifts to endowments, annual fund and projects.
· Assure appropriate acknowledgment of contributions.
· Provide staff support for the Alumni Board, events of the Alumni Board and promote alumni participation both in Utah and out of state.
· Acts as a liaison with department administrators, donors, volunteers, university development office, alumni department, and community
organizations.
· Follow up with donors through annual fund, qualification and phonathon campaigns.
· Identify and maintain information on donors and prospective donors.
· Prepares proposals by performing research, coordinating with department board members, meeting with potential donors, corporations or foundations and writing the proposals.
· Assist with marketing and communication efforts.
· Assist donors in being ambassadors.
· Organizes or assists with the solicitation strategies of donors.
· May represent the department /college or University at various community meetings and events.
· Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Business, or a related area or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience). Four years of experience in high-end repeat sales or direct fund-raising required. Demonstrated human relations and effective communications skills also required. Fund-raising or repeat sales experience that demonstrates the ability to successfully establish long term relationships with high-end customers is preferred.

Preferences
Three years of fund-raising experience which includes direct solicitation of contributions, volunteer leadership support, written and verbal presentations, and strategy and market development
Experience in grant or proposal writing and a background working with local print and electronic media is preferred.
Demonstrated negotiating skills
Experience working with nonprofit volunteer boards/committees is preferred.
Experience in alumni engagement and fundraising, including soliciting donations through phone and email
Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written
Proven track record in successful grant writing and corporate solicitation
Prior experience creating a development plan
Experience with fundraising databases such as Unite or Salesforce
