Position Summary and Duties
The Facilities Maintenance Plumber will perform operational and preventative maintenance and repair of plumbing infrastructure and systems, as well as completing a variety of plumbing and general maintenance requests. The position is scheduled to work Monday through Friday (2nd Shift) 4pm to 12am. 
Essential job duties include:
Provide after hours coverage to perform maintenance and repair work and preventative maintenance duties. Perform preventative maintenance and emergency repairs including minor repairs to plumbing fixtures such as toilets, sinks, water coolers and faucets, pipes, fittings and drains. Correct minor electrical malfunctions, repair doors and windows, change filters, belts, and hoses. Escalate system failures and/or situations the require immediate attention.
Conduct routine inspections and performs routine repairs and maintenance on kitchen equipment, eye wash stations and sump pumps. Inspects and clears drains of obstructions. Inspect facilities mechanical and structural components; ensure operational readiness and safety of related equipment and determines required repairs. Operates tools, power tools, and equipment of the trade or area where assigned. Clean work area upon completion of assignment.
Operate, maintain and ensure adequate supplies, tools, power tools, materials and equipment of the trade or area where assigned. Prepare requisitions and obtain materials needed to complete assigned projects. Ensure cost effective use of materials allocated. Ensure adequate supplies, materials and equipment are maintained in assigned areas. Conduct routine inspections of all Mechanical Rooms and Boiler Rooms and perform routine repairs and maintenance on equipment and tools. Ensure operational readiness and safety of work areas, tools, power tools and equipment.
Assist with snow plowing and snow/ice removal campus-wide as required and directed.
Performs all other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor. This may include attendance of and participation in required training for role.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
- Must be able to pass the University driver’s clearance process and be comfortable driving a University vehicle.
At least 3 years of experience in the facilities maintenance trade performing, troubleshooting, repair Knowledge of location of shut off and isolation valves. Working knowledge of Maryland plumbing code. Working knowledge of fire sprinkler systems. Ability to solder, braze, and thread pipe. 
This is an essential personnel position and the ability to respond to after hour emergencies is mandatory. Ability to respond to after hours emergencies with no supervision and knowing when to escalate a particular situation. Must be able to rotate through on-call duties, covering weekends per the on-call procedures and guidelines.
