Position Details
Interdisciplinary Art Practices Visiting Artist. Two-year appointment, non-renewable. Starting September 1, 2024. The Luther Gregg Sullivan Visiting Artist is expected to be an emerging artist i.e., “early in career,” prepared to teach one course per semester in interdisciplinary art practices. Local artistic production and residency are required. Applicants should have a broad knowledge of art history and contemporary theoretical concerns. We seek an artist whose research falls within the purview of new media, interdisciplinarity, and critical practice. Candidates should have the ability to critique a range of modes of production and to provide a framework for students as they begin developing independent work in their studios. The successful candidate will be able to offer students from diverse backgrounds sustained access and rigorous exposure to interdisciplinary art practices within a liberal arts curriculum. Teaching experience at college level and exhibition record preferred.
Minimum Qualifications
Candidates must have an MFA in Studio Art or a related field in hand by the time of appointment to be hired as a Sullivan Visiting Artist.

  • Cover letter. In the cover letter, applicants should describe how they will embrace the college’s commitment to fostering an inclusive community, as well as their experience working with individuals from historically marginalized or underserved groups. The letter should also include the candidate’s vision for an interdisciplinary upper-level Art Studio course.

    (4) Statement of current research.
    Documentation of teaching experience, including (5) teaching statement and (6) course syllabi.
    You will also be asked to provide the email addresses of three referees from whom we may obtain confidential letters of recommendation (please double-check the accuracy of the email addresses of the referees you name to ensure that you have the most up-to-date email addresses for each one).
