Description of Work Unit
Housing & Dining Services (HDS) is a multifaceted auxiliary organization responsible for management of on-campus housing facilities, residential dining, conferences, and the CSU Mountain Campus. Other areas within HDS include the RamCard Office, communications, sustainability, facilities, human resources, technology services, workplace education, and business services. Approximately 450 full-time staff and 1,700 hourly and student staff serve the nearly 8,000 students who live on campus, in addition to other campus and community guests. Our priority is providing our residents and guests with safe living environments, quality dining, and exceptional out-of-classroom experiences. We accomplish this through sound fiscal and operational management strategies, and an emphasis on the development of programs and services that are designed to enhance personal growth and global engagement. Position Summary
Due to exceptional demand for on-campus housing during the Fall 2022 semester, temporary student housing has been developed at the Best Western. The Live-In Staff Position Off Campus Temporary Housing is a temporary live-in, paraprofessional non-student hourly staff member that serves the residents of this temporary housing community. The position will build a community inclusive of all students, help residents create and sustain connections with their neighbors and campus, as well as facilitate the creation of a positive experience which supports students’ transition, academic, and personal success. This position will engage in critical thinking and problem-solving to address community needs, and to provide support to residents.
The position is a 20 hour per week position, and the two individuals hired for this position will alternate weeks during which they will live in a provided suite at the Best Western.
One suite room at the Best Western will be shared by the two individuals in this position for use during the weeks that they are living there.
Position Minimum Qualifications
  • Hold good academic standing with the University, if enrolled as a student. A 3.0 GPA or higher is required for all graduate students, and a 2.0 for all undergraduate students.
  • Maintain eligibility to work in the United States and live in an on-campus apartment, if applying as a non-student
  • Available to attend weekly University Housing staff meetings
  • No current or pending student conduct incidents (prior incidents are not a disqualification, but all prior cases must be closed by time of hire)
  • Maintain 6 or more credit hours as an undergraduate or 5 or more credit hours as a graduate per semester of employment at Colorado State University
  • Must successfully pass a background check
  • Demonstrated strong commitment to diversity through personal and professional activities that will support the department and university priorities related to equity, access, inclusion, and diversity

Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated ability to relate with people of different cultural backgrounds
  • 2.5 GPA (undergraduate)/3.5 GPA preferred (preferred)
  • Highly flexible and willing to handle a wide variety of tasks in a detail-oriented fashion
  • Willingness to learn, adapt and the ability to problem-solve
  • Knowledge and awareness of resources on the CSU campus and within the Fort Collins community

  • During the weeks that the staff member is staying at the Best Western they will serve as support to the hotel staff with disciplinary issues by confronting and documenting inappropriate behavior and connecting with the University Housing on-call duty staff as needed.
  • As a Campus Security Authority (CSA), the position is required to report all information regarding alleged crimes that are reported to them in good faith by others, as well as information of alleged crimes that they personally witness.
