Position Summary

The University of New Mexico College of University Libraries & Learning Sciences (CULLS) seeks motivated and highly-engaged student employees interested in a challenging and specialized behind-the-scenes work environment. The position will be in the Map and Geographic Information Center (MAGIC) located in Centennial Science and Engineering Library. We are seeking individuals with strong attention to detail, accuracy, and dependability.

 Under direct supervision, Library Assistants work with University Libraries staff to:

  • Provide assistance using large format printer and scanner
  • Refiling of map and library materials and ensure that collections are well-organized and accessible
  • Participate in special projects as assigned
  • Potential facilities and reference duties to ensure MAGIC is a comfortable research destination for UNM students and faculty

The position offers hours Monday-Friday between 8:30AM – 4:00PM. Evening and weekend hours are not available. Successful applicants will have the opportunity for progressively independent work and increased responsibility. Benefits of this position include: learning research skills that support college academic work; receiving guidance and mentoring from library staff; and developing professional skills such as interpersonal communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving. All UL&LS student employees are employed on a term basis for the current/impending school year. All library student employees must be able to shelf books and perform other physical activities as required.

  • Knowledge of Adobe Acrobat and/or ArcGIS helpful
