Job Summary
Gonzaga University’s Department of Nursing seeks to fill three 0.5 FTE, Spring semester only, non-tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Lecturer beginning spring semester 2024. These individuals will teach primarily in the PMHNP program and will also be liaisons for PMHNP clinical placements to external healthcare partners.  Contract may be renewed based on anticipated student enrollment in the program and success of candidate.
Essential Functions
  • Teach 6 credits of didactic (theory) course work and/or practicum (clinical) courses per semester; may include weekend immersion. 
  • Actively seek out new clinical opportunities as needed.
  • Facilitate optimal relationships between clinical personnel, clinical facilities, faculty, and students.
  • Work closely with the Clinical Operations Group to support the clinical placement enterprise.
  • Apply best practices in nursing education.
  • Model critical and reflective thinking.
  • Comply with FERPA when handling personal, confidential, and sensitive student information
  • Maintain professional boundaries when working with students and/or patients.
  • Implement a variety of teaching strategies and learning experiences appropriate to learner needs and desired outcomes.
  • Provide timely, constructive, and thoughtful feedback to learners.
  • Apply feedback from course evaluations for improving course delivery and professional growth.
  • Communicate effectively with students, colleagues, administrators, and clinical practice partners.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with community partners in practicum (clinical) settings.
  • Participate in shared leadership and shared governance of departmental, school and/or university councils/committees.
  • Participate in curriculum review/revision.
  • Advise students, guiding them in meeting degree requirements and career goals.
  • Pursue relevant professional development, including clinical practice, that supports classroom instruction and, as needed to maintain APRN licensure and certification.
  • Maintain engagement in practice as a PMHNP 
Minimum Qualifications
  • Master of Science degree in nursing.
  • Eligible for an unencumbered Washington state RN license and Washington ARNP license. 
  • Minimum of two (2) years clinical experience as a Psychiatric-Mental-Health Nurse Practitioner.
  • Certification as a Psychiatric-Mental-Health Nurse Practitioner.
  • Record of supporting and mentoring students from diverse backgrounds, identities, and experiences.
  • Demonstrated knowledge about cultural competence in academic and health care settings.
  • Demonstrated experience with social justice, diversity, equity, and inclusion with respect to race, culture, gender, sexual orientation, or other identities in an academic setting.
Desired Qualifications
  • Doctoral preparation in nursing or related field.
  • Previous teaching experience with graduate and/or undergraduate nursing students including didactic and practicum courses.
  • Experience teaching online courses.
