Job Overview

The Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes & Metabolism is hiring a full time Lab Associate to provide support activities for the research needs and to administer the daily operational policies of the laboratory.  This is opportunity is located at our Reading Campus.  


Essential Functions
  • Must be proficient at basic wet lab procedures; should be able to make up buffers and solutions to scientific standards, maintain accurate and transparent documentation, and ensure data integrity.
  • Skillful at PCR, DNA/RNA and protein extractions.
  • Skillful at western blotting.
  • Comfortable with work involving mice and rats, and be able to assist with animal husbandry, handling, blood drawing and euthanasia and tissue harvesting; Be willing to learn potential animal surgical techniques.
  • Able to perform microscopy and use if electronic data capture.
  • Assist with animal behavioral testing.
  • Ability to learn (if not already skillful) at sterol extractions and preparation for LC-MS/MS analysis.
  • Will need, though prior experience is helpful, to train up on operation of LC-MS/MS.
  • Will need, though prior experience is helpful, to work with cores on molecular biology techniques such as single-cell RAN Seq, or DNA sequencing.
  • Liaise with Endocrinology administrative staff to share required documentation.
  • Perform related duties based on the laboratory’s need. This job description can be changed at any time.

Required Education
  • Associate's Degree.
  • Three (3) years of relevant work experience and/or other specialized training can be used in lieu of education requirement.

Required Experience

One (1) year of experience in an area of technical specialty.
