Posting Summary
Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey, is seeking an Intensive Literature Review Assistant for the University Libraries.  The Intensive Literature Review Assistant will develop intensive literature reviews in support of the development of faculty research projects. An intensive literature review here refers primarily to variations on annotated bibliographies but could include scoping, structured, or systematic reviews as well as article collection for meta-analyses. 
 Among the key duties of this position are the following:
  • Undertakes up to four short-term, well-defined literature review projects during a semester for faculty members at SC&I. 
  • Works on one review project at a time under the supervision and mentoring of librarians in New Brunswick Libraries, who will guide them in developing their search skills, database knowledge, and citation management skills.  
  • Responsible for refining the search parameters of a SC&I faculty member’s requested search, determining the type and scope of the search output, documenting the search process, and preparing a report of the search results.

Minimum Education and Experience
•Requires a Bachelor’s degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience. 
•Requires two years relevant experience or applicable coursework (or a combination) in library research.
Certifications/Licenses
Preferred Qualifications
  • Preference given to those who have completed MI courses in Search and the Information Landscape and Reference Sources & Services or who can demonstrate relevant equivalent experience.  
  • Current Masters of Information graduate students at SC&I who are eligible for on-campus employment. 
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Highly motivated individuals with knowledge of databases, search techniques, and the scholarly communication environment.  Experience in working with citation management tools such as EndNote, Zotero, or RefWorks/Flow.
  • Intellectual curiosity and strong interpersonal and communication skills are required qualifications for this position, as well as consistent availability for 8-12 hours per week of work during the semester.
