The Marcus Institute for Brain Health (MIBH) is an interdisciplinary clinical care and research institute for Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) and associated physical and psychological health conditions such as post-traumatic stress, depression, and anxiety. The MIBH is part of the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus (CU AMC) which is the largest academic health center in the Rocky Mountain region and is located in Aurora, Colorado. Aurora is Colorado’s second largest and most diverse city, home to a significant population of refugees.
The MIBH provides specialized care for people with mild to moderate TBI, who have persistent posttraumatic symptoms, with a primary focus on the provision of subspecialty clinical services for military Veterans of pre- and post-911 era, regardless of discharge status. The MIBH provides comprehensive interdisciplinary intensive outpatient evaluation and treatment integrating novel medical, and complementary-alternative treatment modalities. This position will work entirely within the MIBH but will be assigned to an appropriate academic home department within the CU AMC.
MIBH currently seeks a Behavioral Health clinician with a specialty in family systems who will work within an integrated practice unit (IPU) setting. The position will coordinate the family program portion of the Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP), in collaboration with other members of the interdisciplinary team. S/he will provide family-oriented behavioral health (BH) assessments and interview collaterals as part of the assessment process. S/he will provide family therapy to patients and/or family members and may also be responsible for following individual patients for individual (e.g. non-family focused) therapy. The position must adhere to the State of Colorado Code of Ethics for his/her relevant discipline.
This position may have the potential for some remote work to allow for flexibility when connecting with family members and their schedules.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Coordinating the family portion of the treatment program, including ongoing development in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team
- Conducting therapy as well as family-oriented therapy as part of an interdisciplinary team treatment approach
- Conducting family-oriented evaluations and communicating results both to the interdisciplinary team and the patient in a professional manner
- Conducting individual or group therapy that is individually focused
- Making recommendations to the interdisciplinary team regarding patients’ physical and psychological needs
- Building relationships with patients that foster early communication of risky situations to allow for preventative interventions over crisis management
- Working independently and with an interdisciplinary team to implement a treatment plan and adjust it according to clinical needs of the patient
- Preparing appropriate documentation in a timely manner including: evaluations, progress notes, treatment plans, and charges
- Assist in developing program processes, policies and procedures, and best-practices
The clinician must have knowledge of human development and individual and family psychological theory as it relates to traumatic brain injuries, PTS, human behavior, and addiction. They should have an understanding of traumatic brain injuries and their impact on physical and psychological states and relationships, and should possess relationship-building skills across a diverse range of cultural settings. The individual in this position will demonstrate knowledge of and have direct experience in neurotrauma, pain management, sleep health, and rehabilitation services, philosophy, and practice.

- Current knowledge of or willingness to learn about military culture
- Proficient computer skills including the ability to work with a variety of applications
Salary and Benefits:
The salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established at:
Instructor $65,000 - $75,000
Sr. Instructor $65,000 - $75,000
The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

- Licensure in their discipline and ability to obtain Colorado licensure

- Ability and willingness to work non-traditional schedule as program requires
- Comfort and/or willingness to learn digital/virtual care platforms and telehealth
Senior Instructor:
