Salary Range $27,500-$29,000 (part-time) per academic year Compensation will be commensurate upon experience and qualifications.

Work Location: On-site

This position has been determined to be exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).

Summary:

This position is designated as a 50%, 9-month appointment set to begin August 2024. The faculty member is expected to teach up to 9 credit hours of courses in nutrition for exercise and sport each academic year; work with partnering organizations in building sport nutrition services, internships, and/or apprenticeships; mentor students in and outside of the classroom, engage with partner organizations; participate in both internal and external internship and apprenticeship activities; and demonstrate collaborative interests and collegiality in all aspects of university and community engagement. Candidates with expertise in the areas of nutrition, exercise science, and sports performance are encouraged to apply. Applicants should possess good interpersonal and communication skills, including proficiency in English.

Essential Functions:

  • Teach courses in nutrition for exercise and sport.
  • Work with partnering organizations in building and maintaining sport nutrition services, internships, and/or apprenticeships.
  • Mentor students in and outside of the classroom.
  • Demonstrate collaborative interests and collegiality in all aspects of university and community engagement.

Tentative Search Timeline:

  • Priority will be given to applications submitted by March 10, 2024. However, this posting will remain open until filled.
  • The potential dates for interviews with the search committee will be the week of March 11, 2024.
  • The potential dates for interviews with the supervisor and appointing authority will be the week of March 18, 2024.
  • The potential employee start date is August 2024.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire:

  • Registered Dietitian/Nutritionist (RD/RDN)
  • Master's degree in nutrition, exercise physiology or closely related field
  • Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics (CSSC)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2 or more years of practical experience in collegiate, professional, tactical, or elite sports.
  • 1 or more academic terms of teaching expertise.
  • Certified Specialist in Strength and Conditioning or Certified Athletic Trainer.

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand and walk. Employee is occasionally required to have long periods of sitting, moderate bending, moderate energy requirements and fine motor skills. Talking and hearing within normal range. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
