DESCRIPTION

Our Mission is to cultivate a health technology ecosystem, realizing innovation at scale with impact through testing at UC San Diego Health and beyond. More than just a basic command center, our Mission Control will be a physical space for facilitating, co-locating, and decision-making all things related to patient flow: inpatient, outpatient and community operations. It will house the central orchestration for data feeds coming from our EMR, AI data models, AI technologies throughout the hospitals, patients' homes, and across the communities.

The Imaging Mission Control Coordinator will be responsible for ensuring the coordination of patients requiring imaging to improve patient flow. This individual will require strong communication skills and ability to work with various service lines, in additional to all imaging modalities, to increase efficiency and reduce bottlenecks.

Job Responsibilities

  • Works closely with various service lines in addition to imaging leaders to increase efficiency and reduce bottlenecks
  • Primary point of contact representing imaging for inpatient, ED and transfer center coordination for the enterprise
  • Leads Mission Control operations for the imaging service line
  • Imaging super user for care coordination functions and expediting care pathways
  • Subject matter expert for imaging throughput processes and metrics
  • Drive change through centralized governance with decision making authority on a day to day/weekly basis
  • Takes lead role in staff orientation, training, and coaching
  • Provides staff coverage for all Imaging Services entry points
  • Performs patient account analysis for financial security
  • Identifies and reports scheduling system deficiencies
  • Acts as liaison for external and internal clinical contacts
  • Develops and maintains training processes and reference materials
  • Leads quality assurance efforts
  • Assists in assessing and improving workflow processes
  • Provides performance feedback to the team
  • Contributes to work organization and scheduling
  • Coordinates imaging throughput and exam escalation to decompress inpatient and ED census

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Six (6) years of related admin experience OR Associates Degree in related area plus four (4) years related experience OR Bachelor's degree in related area plus two (2) years related experience
  • Knowledge of Patient Rights & Responsibilities, Joint Commission standards, and Centers for Medicare / Medicaid regulations, Medical Terminology and data collection, compilation, and analytical techniques.
  • Skills to comprehend and assess patient's grievances to quickly locate appropriate resource for assistance. Working knowledge of the organization and how to get issues resolved.
  • Solid interpersonal and customer service skills with ability to be diplomatic and highly organized and able to remain calm under pressure and apply sound judgment.
  • Must be able to work independently in a fast-paced, demanding environment with minimal supervision. Ability to manage and oversee multiple tasks simultaneously, including high daily call volume.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Proficiency with Windows-based software including Microsoft word, Excel, Outlook. Knowledge of computer systems and software used in functional area.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Previous Radiology/imaging scheduling experience in a hospital setting.

  • Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $49,778 - $72,516 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $23.84 - $34.73
