Position Summary/Purpose of Position:
The University of Maryland Institute for Health Computing (IHC) seeks an Illustrator/Animator to generate 2D illustrations, infographics and 3D animations for research proposals, research papers, presentations, website content, and more. The Illustrator/Animator will create detailed, accurate, and aesthetically pleasing illustrations and animations that can effectively communicate complex concepts in medicine and computing.
This position requires strong interpersonal skills; the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, meet budgets and timelines; and a dedication to producing high-quality, creative final products.
The Illustrator/Animator will work onsite at the IHC offices in North Bethesda, Md.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Illustration, Graphic Design, or a related field.

Experience:
  • Three years of professional illustration experience.
Preferences:
Preferences:
  • M.S. if certified Medical Illustrator or MFA.
  • Three years of professional scientific, medical or technical illustration experience.
  • Strong background in technical and scientific concepts.
  • Proficiency in illustration and animation software programs (e.g., Adobe Illustrator, Adobe After Effects, Adobe Animate).
  • Proficiency in 3D software (e.g., Maya, 3ds Max, Blender, cinema 4D, ZBrush, Mudbox)
  • Superb illustration and animation skills.
  • Ability to juggle projects under deadline pressure and amid changing priorities.
  • Ability to build collaborative relationships in a diverse work environment.
  • Ability to work independently.

Physical Demands
Work is performed in an office environment and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards. Must have the ability to lift and small carry parcels, packages and other items, to walk short distances, and drive a vehicle to deliver and pick up materials.
