The Opportunity:

Join our team as an HVAC Specialist II and play a crucial role in maintaining and enhancing our campus environment. As part of this position, you'll ensure the continuous operation of HVAC systems, troubleshoot issues, and respond to requests to create a safe and efficient living and learning space.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform preventative and predictive maintenance on HVAC systems through planned and scheduled work orders.

  • Address corrective repairs promptly to restore functionality.

  • Calibrate controls to maintain design temperature and humidity.

  • Check refrigerant charges and pressures, ensuring compliance with EPA Section 608.

  • Conduct repairs on various HVAC components, including air systems, compressors, controls, and more.

  • Assist in project planning for asset maintenance.

  • Update and maintain data in the Integrated Work Management System (IWMS).

  • Fulfill work requests assigned through IWMS.

Minimum Qualifications:

Completion of an approved apprenticeship program in heating, ventilation and/or air conditioning; or a high school diploma and 4 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219. Click here for more information

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of trades classifications and maintenance tools.

  • Experience with direct expansion, pneumatic, electrical, hot, and chilled water systems.

  • Familiarity with Federal, State, and local safety regulations, OSHA, Dept. of Health, and Bureau of Fire Safety.

  • Strong communication skills in English to work effectively with customers and team members, operate and interpret the functions of the electronic equipment; (iPod Touch, for AiM PM checkpoints), comprehend standard safety procedures and utilize telecommunication devices.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Integrated Work Management System (IWMS).

  • Ability to lead, motivate, and work in a diverse environment.

  • Maintain confidentiality and address sensitive matters appropriately.

  • Assess material needs, order inventory, and ensure accurate supplies.

  • Ensure work productivity and service meet quality assurance standards.

  • Valid driver’s license. The position may involve driving to various locations on and off campus to conduct University business.

Health Assessment Required:  

UCF policy requires completion and passing of a physical exam for this position.

Special Instructions to the Applicants:

EPA 608 Universal Certification required.
