Job Family & Summary:

The College of Arts & Media  has an opening for a full-time Human Resources (HR) Operations Coordinators (unclassified) position. The continuance of this appointment will be based on merit/performance, budget, and enrollment numbers.

The HR Operations Coordinator will provide a high level of critical assistance as directed by the Director of People Operations/HR for the College of Arts & Media.  This will include HR data entry of transactions, processing of hiring paperwork, processing of facility badge access and key requests, maintenance of electronic personnel files, reviewing payroll, and ensuring required compliance trainings are complete.

Job family description:

Intermediate: Jobs in this career family provide the management of human capital.  Functions include providing advice and guidance to managers and employees, and performing functions including strategic planning and analysis, compliance with policies and laws, employment and compensation, job evaluation, performance and leave management, employee training/development, reward and recognition, employee relations, affirmative action, benefits, employee records/information, and payroll.

Professionals at the intermediate level are responsible for exercising discretion, analytical skill, personal accountability and responsibility in a wide range of areas including academic, administrative, managerial and student services functions. Work involves creating, integrating, applying and sharing knowledge directly related to a professional field. 

At the intermediate level, duties may be more limited in scope and are performed with guidance and direction from other professionals.

Examples of Work Performed:

Assist the Director People Operations/HR with the day-to-day transactional operations of the HR functions and duties, ensuring all aspects of HR are accurately and ethically completed, while maintaining discretion, confidentiality, professionalism, and accuracy. Communicate and provide timely updates of workload and any issues to the Director of People Operations/HR.

Human Capital Management (40%)

  • Create data entry transactions in the Human Capital Management (HCM) system related to personnel management (including new hires, terminations, short work breaks, reappointments, additional jobs, pay rate changes, supervisor changes, percent of time changes, sabbaticals, etc)
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and complete HR records/files ensuring compliance with Federal, State and University laws, regulations, policies, and procedures
  • Handle private information and maintain integrity and discretion of personnel files.

Payroll (40%)

  • Accurately and timely input monthly, biweekly, and off-cycle payroll data
  • Review, confirm, and interpret payroll register data to identify issues or inaccurate payroll allocations
  • Create and submit PETs for approvals
  • Create, route, process payroll forms for approval and signatures 

Talent Acquisition (10%)

  • Assist with the recruitment process for student employees (post on CAM HR or Handshake, assist with interviews as needed, ensure legal and fair search processes are followed, send and process new hire documents, hire into HCM, draft/send employment terms/letters, etc)
  • Assist in the recruitment activities for faculty, staff, and student worker positions through the Human Capital Management (HCM) and CU Careers systems
  • Support the search functions, and may serve as a search coordinator/search committee member when appropriate and as needed
  • Draft letter of offers
  • Support the on-boarding processes for new employees

Other (10%)

  • Perform other duties and tasks, and aids with projects as assigned and approved by Director of People Operations/HR
  • Ensure all documentation is accurate and complete, and personnel actions are compliant with law, regulation, or policy
  • Process facility access and key requests/retrievals
  • Complete exit procedures for employees
  • Other duties, projects, and tasks as assigned and needed.

Salary:

The salary range (or hiring range ) for this position has been established at $54,000- $57,900.

The above salary range (or hiring range ) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. 

This position is not eligible for overtime compensation unless it is non-exempt.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business, public administration, or a related field from an accredited college or university.
    • Substitution : 4 years of fulltime payroll and/or human resources professional experience.
  • In addition to the above, 1 year of professional level work experience providing people operations/human resources and/or payroll functions

  Conditions of Employment: 

  • Must be willing and able to:

    • maintain a regular on-campus presence – some remote work may be available

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with utilizing current HR technologies (i.e. PeopleSoft, CU Careers, or similar systems)
  • Experience inputting timely and private data/content into an HR data entry system
  • Experience working with/within HR procedures, rules, regulations, and policies
  • Experience working in higher education or an academic institution
  • Experience editing and proofing professional correspondence, such as letters of offers, to ensure appropriateness and professionalism
