Position Summary
The Department of Clinical Sciences is one of four academic departments in the College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences at Colorado State University. The department is the academic home to approximately 400 people and is comprised of 100+ full time and special appointment faculty members, 85+ administrative staff, 73+ graduate students, residents, interns and postdoc fellows and ~140 hourly staff. The Department of Clinical Sciences mission is to assure the health and productivity of animals to meet societal needs through high quality educational programs for professional veterinary medical students, graduate veterinarians, and the public through a faculty and veterinary medical center of excellence, and to advance and disseminate comparative biomedical knowledge in an environment of interdisciplinary collaboration.
The work environment is fast-paced and busy! We are looking for a customer-service focused, detailed individual to round out our HR team. Work location can be hybrid with the right candidate and after training.
The purpose of this position is to perform HR tasks for the unit. This includes hourly hiring, timeclock management including leave, holidays, corrections, FML entries and payroll.

Position Minimum Qualifications
Two years of experience in an occupational field related to the work assigned to the position.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience interpreting and ensuring compliance with HR policy, and requesting assistance from college HR as appropriate.
• Experience and working knowledge within an institution of higher education.
• Reflecting departmental and institutional values, candidates are expected to have the ability to advance the Department’s commitment to diversity and inclusion.
• Demonstration of active, successful work in a Human Resources capacity within a professional business setting involving the simultaneous execution of multiple programs and initiatives.
• Demonstration of strong, effective oral and written communication skills.
• Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite including significant experience in Word, Outlook, Excel and Access.
• HR CERTIFICATION related to the job tasks and responsibilities.

Essential Job Duties


Job Duty Category Hourly Hiring Coordinator
Duty/Responsibility
  • Serve as subject matter expert on all hourly hiring needs for the department, including the new TimeClock Plus time/leave management system.
  • Responsible for all new hire student hourly and non-student hourly employee requests for the department of Clinical Sciences
  • Initiating the hiring paperwork and background check requests to initiating the new assignment in Oracle
  • Responsible for maintaining and processing bi-weekly payroll for all hourly positions in the department
  • Understand and interpret University student and non-student hourly employment classification, hiring and compensation policies
  • Aid in creation of job postings for student employees in Handshake and TMS for non‐student hourly hiring and ensure correct title and classification is utilized.
  • Review TimeClock Plus entries for payroll accuracy including manager approval status, over-time, compensatory time, and hours worked.
  • Oversee and monitor all locum veterinarian needs and hiring.
  • Enter termination actions in a timely manner to ensure payout of leave and termination of benefits as appropriate.

  • Prepare and review Non-Exempt TimeClock Plus employee entries by payroll deadlines.

  • Maintains employee related databases.
  • Manages forms and documentation collection.
  • Attends CSU/CVMBS HR-related informational meetings and committee work.
  • Manages time keeping and leave balances
  • Enters lost time and leave balance logistics
  • Other duties as assigned
