Job Summary
The University of Utah Human Resources Department is committed to customer service, efficiency, and ensuring University leaders have the capacity to manage their divisions. The HR Analyst will be a member of the HR team and, it is anticipated, will be physically located on campus in or near the assigned department or group of departments they serve a couple of days per week.
The HR Analyst is anticipated to work closely with an Associate HR Director and HR Specialist. The HR Analyst may be assigned a number of functional areas on campus, and will act as the first point of contact for a department or group of departments. As the primary point of HR contact within the department or group of departments they serve, the HR Analyst will assist departments with the following areas, including but not limited to recruitment, hiring, onboarding, benefits, payroll, compensation, employee relations, and processing employment changes.
This position is hybrid, so the incumbent will be required to work at least 2 days per week on campus, but will also be able to telecommute. An employee hired into this role who telecommutes will be responsible for providing space, telephone, printing, networking, and/or internet capabilities at the telecommute location and sign the University of Utah Telecommuting Agreement
Responsibilities
• Provides advice and consultation to University administrators and staff regarding recruitment, hiring, onboarding, policies, and procedures, and is a resource to address HR-related questions and problems.
• Initiates proactive recruitment efforts in support of hiring departments.
• Participates in Job Fairs and recruitment-related community outreach events in support of Diversity and Veteran recruitment efforts.
• Participates in the development and delivery of training on recruitment, selection, and placement
• Evaluates and maintain salary equity during the hiring and fiscal year review processes.
• Participates in the development and delivery of HR processes and systems.
• As an HR data steward, analyzes and initiates departments’ employment transactions and ensures the integrity of data.
• Captures, analyzes, and reports on HR trends, business processes, market data, and other HR information to best support departments.
• Consults with customers and business partners on projects
• Tracks and evaluates trends and developments in assigned departments
• Recommends modifications regarding existing HR practices to management, and develops, coordinates, and implements changes as needed.
• Ensures compliance with applicable laws, rules, and regulations
• Assist in developing and maintaining department policies and procedures by monitoring changes in federal, state, and local laws.
• Uses independent judgment to handle and resolve customer service needs and address confidential situations in a professional manner.
• Facilitates meetings, group discussions, and projects
• Assists in the rollout and implementation of HR programs
• May participate on various committees

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, related field, or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience); two years of progressively more responsible experience in HR; analyzing, presenting data, and developing customer relations.
  • Demonstrated computer (MS Office: Excel/ Word/ Outlook), human relations, and effective communication skills required.

Experience with PeopleSoft, PeopleAdmin, and other HRIS systems preferred.
