Position Title Head Women's Golf Coach

Position Summary
The Head Women’s Golf coach is responsible for all aspects in leading a competitive NCAA Division I women’s golf program to include, but not limited to: coaching (practice and in-game), recruiting, meeting NCAA APR requirements, fund-raising, positive encouragement towards student-athlete development, scheduling, and hiring staff. The Head Women’s Golf Coach reports to the Senior Associate Athletic Director for External Relations.

Job Duties

Description of Job Duties
  • Manage and direct the program;
  • Recruit, teach and demonstrate golf skills;
  • Build and sustain positive relationships with student-athletes, former players, faculty, alumni and staff;
  • Prepare team for competitions and schedule games;
  • Manage a fiscally sound budget;
  • Direct the assistant golf coach in coordinating study hall and tutoring;
  • Monitor class schedules, grades and student-athlete academic progress;
  • Work cooperatively with athletic personnel, attend department meetings and activities;
  • Represent the university positively when interacting with the community, alumni, high school and club coaches, media and general public;
  • Evaluate assistant coaches;
  • Adhere to all rules and regulations set forth for the team, the University, the Southland Conference and the NCAA;
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities
  • Demonstrated ability to recruit, coach and teach highly talented student-athletes.
  • Ability to adhere to all policies, rules and regulations of the university, the Southland Conference and the NCAA.
  • Demonstrated ability to market and promote UIW women’s golf.
  • Ability to effectively manage a sports budget.
  • Must exhibit leadership and professional behavior in dealing with student-athletes.
  • Must be a team player and have the ability to support and assist other employees.
  • Must be dependable and have strong customer service skills.
  • Be willing to work various hours including weekends, evenings and some holidays.
  • Ability to consistently follow the Mission of the University.
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures.
  • Employee shall adhere to all applicable rules and regulations of the University, the Conference, and the NCAA.
Required Education
Bachelor’s Degree.
Required Work Experience
Minimum of three (3) years of NCAA collegiate golf coaching experience OR three (3) years of collegiate playing experience
Preferred Qualifications
  • Masters Degree.
  • Division I collegiate golf coaching experience.
Required Certifications, Licenses or Registrations
Must have a valid driver license, driving record that is insurable by UIW insurance carrier, and be at least 21 years of age, as required to drive for UIW.
Work Hours
Business hours of Mon-Fri 8am to 5pm with flexibility; extended hours as required, including weekends, evenings and some holidays based on team schedule.

Typical for coach in this field.
