ROLE of the POSITION

The Grant Administrator contributes to the development of grant and contract activities in the College of Sciences (CoS) primarily through supporting technical writing, scientific review, and professional development. This includes all sources of extramural funding (e.g. federal, local, foundation grants & contracts) and internal funding to support research, teaching, and service sponsored projects in the CoS. The position is designed to increase the number and quality of proposals submitted by the CoS academic and administrative faculty and aligned with the top tier strategic goals of the CoS and UNLV. The successful candidate should have the ability to work with diverse groups of College stakeholders and external collaborators. The successful candidate should have the ability to synthesize complex information into proposals that are clear, well-written, and internally consistent and have the ability to effectively develop and lead educational opportunities.

PROFILE of the College of Sciences

Discovery and education go hand-in-hand in the UNLV College of Sciences to provide innovative and engaging learning environments to enable students (>30% are first generation) to pursue careers as researchers, educators, private-industry employees, and health professionals. Currently the College of Sciences educates 2370 highly diverse students (31% Hispanic, 25% white, 22% Asian, 6% Black,13% Multiethnic, 3% Other) encompassing seven academic units and programs (Chemistry & Biochemistry, Geoscience, Life Sciences, Mathematical Sciences, Physics & Astronomy, Radiochemistry, and Water Resources). The College offers 17 undergraduate, master's, and doctoral degrees supported by state-of-the-art classes and hands-on laboratories. The College of Sciences employs 147 full-time faculty members conducting exciting research in areas including biotechnology, nanotechnology, multi-messenger astrophysics, materials under extreme conditions, precision measurement, and seismic activity to name a few.  The College currently receives ~17 million dollars in grants to support this research.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

This position requires a bachelor's degree in any field from an accredited college or university as recognized by the United States Department of Education and/or the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and knowledge of extramural funding sources/organizations and elements of successful proposal grant writing and general knowledge of grant administration. Credentials must be obtained prior to the start date.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Master's degree in any field plus two years of grant-related experience and technical writing experience. Past experience working with collaborative teams at an institution of higher education. Skill at leading professional learning opportunities. Skill at locating and translating funding opportunities for different agencies and organizations to faculty research expertise areas. Experience working with grant related budgets.

SALARY

Salary is $70,000.00.
