The Population Health Initiative has an outstanding opportunity for one graduate research assistants to join our team for summer quarter 2022 to support the Global Vaccination Improvement Project at the Population Health Initiative. This position will take the lead in addressing limitations and gaps in existing data sources used in the team’s analyses. Specifically, this position will be involved in data seeking, data management, data cleaning, and the creation of graphics and tables for presentations, visualizations, and reports.

Key tasks and responsibilities for this position include:

Work with the research team to extract, format, and transform data from multiple sources
• Adapt existing code to replicate or refine analyses, or to create figures, tables, graphs
• Develop and maintain systematic documentation regarding data sources and scripts utilized
• Document all code and methods used to ensure replicability
• Assist with literature reviews
• Draft summaries of research findings, manuscripts, and/or reports

DATES OF EMPLOYMENT:
Summer Quarter 2022 (June 16, 2022 to September, 15, 2022)

HOURS:
19.5 hours/week

REQUIREMENTS:
• Must be formally enrolled in the UW Graduate School for at least 10 credits during summer quarter 2022 and be in good standing or this can be an hourly paid positions for non-registered graduate RAs to perform research work during the summer quarter. GRSA positions are intended for RAs who do not need to enroll in summer classes and who already have GAIP coverage in the summer through an appointment in the previous academic year.
• Demonstrated success in developing code.
• Strong quantitative aptitude, desire to learn new skills, and ability to interpret complex analytic information.

Desired:
• Experience with communicating research findings to different audiences, including non-researchers.
• Experience with troubleshooting R code and interpreting output.

SALARY:
•  Compensation and benefits are based on the 2021-22 ASE salary schedules for a Schedule 1 pre-master research assistant.
