Brief Summary of Job Description
The KSS Health and Physical Education Graduate Assistant is a 19hr/week position that is hired to begin in Fall 2024 with the intention that this is a 2-year (4-semester) position. The position focuses on building your professional and academic resume through providing support to the HPE faculty with regard to course instruction, practicum supervision, research, and service to the HPE profession.
Job Duties
Support HPE faculty through activities related to course instruction, practicum supervision, research, and professional service. Teach up to three credits a semester with faculty mentorship. Mentor undergraduate students during experiential learning. Assist with HPE course-related equipment management. Collaborate with faculty and students on research/tasks/projects. Some local travel will be required.
Required Qualifications
Undergraduate degree in Health/Physical Education or similar degree program (exercise science, health promotion, etc.) at an accredited University. Possess an entrepreneurial spirit; be flexible, willing and able to play different roles at the university and when assisting at the PK-12 schools. Evidence of planning, and time management skills that will bring structure and accountability to the position. Excellent organizational, communication and facilitation skills. Proficient computer skills and experience with MS Office (or similar) applications. Skills related to searching and summarizing research literature. Must be fully admitted into a graduate program at UNK. Skills related to both collaborative and independent project work that adheres to timelines and due dates. Valid Current Drivers License.
Preferred Qualifications
Background in education or associated discipline is preferred.
Work experience in a similar field.
Pursuing a masters degree from the Teacher Education and/or Kinesiology Sport Science Department. Specifically Health and/or Physical Education, Adapted Physical Education, Physical Education Pedagogy, or Coaching.
Physical Demands
Schedule 19 hrs per week during the academic year
