Position Summary/Purpose of Position:
The Office of Undergraduate Studies is seeking a graduate assistant for the First Year Book Program (FYB). A first year book is distributed to incoming students and serves as a touchstone for campus-wide conversation. The Graduate Assistant for the FYB program helps to facilitate all web development, social media, campus programming, event planning, and administrative duties for the year. The GA will support the efforts of a cross-unit faculty/staff team making changes to the undergraduate diversity curriculum.

  • This position is only open to Graduate Students currently enrolled at the University of Maryland, College Park.

  • Excellent writing skills and good working knowledge of Wordpress, Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe Illustrator.
  • Experience with content creation, lesson planning, event planning, and general office duties.

The GA’s 20-hour schedule primarily occurs between 8:30am and 5pm, Monday through Friday; there are occasionally evening and weekend hours for special events. The Office of Undergraduate Studies follows the University of Maryland holiday schedule. The Dean’s Office will also provide up to $500 per fiscal year for professional travel to a conference at which you give a paper.

Physical Demands
Work is performed in an office environment and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards. Must have the ability to lift and carry small parcels, packages, and other items and transport them short distances around campus.
