Job Summary

 

Required:

  • Excellent communication skills, ability to follow directions, work independently within the guidelines of our department, Team Player, highly organized, excellent follow through and attention to detail, diplomatic, able to stay calm and focused in a fast paced sometimes hectic office environment, ability to listen, comprehend, analyze situation and respond appropriately

Student Engagement:

  • Academic coaching – working on time management skills, other executive function skills for students with disabilities who may need additional instruction in various modalities and be shown multiple examples,
  • Intake appointments: talking to students to secure information about their disability and how it impacts their PNW experience. Reviewing documentation and meeting with one of the professional staff to discuss the information received and determine accommodations for the student.
  • Data entry into AIM database and other reports and databases, ability to listen to student, parent, faculty, and staff concerns and respond with appropriate resources or next steps.
  • Scheduling, organizing, proctoring according to that individual’s accommodations, scanning, and returning accommodated exams. Work evenings the week of final exams and possibly midterms otherwise the hours are typically during Monday – Friday between 8 and 4:30.

Outreach:

  • bulletin boards, Canva designs, outreach events such as New Student Orientation, Welcome Week, tabling, ect.

Communication:

  • Keep all activities and information confidential,
  • Answering phones, responding to email, able to use technology such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Canva, and other database and communication technology
  • Respond with compassion and professionalism
  • Communicate effectively with students, faculty, staff and other stakeholders
  • Ability to diffuse upset callers and problem solve with them
  • Creating Canva, Power Point, and bulletin boards that are visually appealing and communicate desired message

Office duties:

  • Scanning, filing, sorting, and organizing
  • Must be able to attend weekly Team Meetings
  • And other duties as assigned

Education

 

Bachelor’s Degree required in Counseling, Social Work, Education, Special Education, Psychology, or other related fields

A student currently seeking a Masters or higher degree


Experience

 

Teaching, counseling, We will consider any experience teaching, counseling, or working with youth especially those with disabilities.
