Position Summary/Purpose of Position:
The Center for Risk and Reliability is seeking a graduate assistant to provide communication and administrative support to the Center.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: maintaining the CRR website and outreach materials; designing and publishing a newsletter; distributing seminar announcements; maintaining email lists; coordinating visitors; document preparation and technical editing; managing calendars; assisting with paperwork and travel planning, scheduling meetings; scanning and filing documents; running errands. Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, English, or closely related field
Experience:
  • Experience in an office environment
  • Experience editing, proofreading, and formatting a variety of documents created in Microsoft Word, Powerpoint, Excel, and LaTeX
  • Experience managing websites and other digital communications.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Attention to detail & highly organized
  • Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple concurrent activities
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in Google Calendar

This position is only open to Graduate Students who are currently enrolled at the University of Maryland, College Park.
Preferences:

  • Experience in technical writing and/or technical graphic design
  • Prior experience in organizing travel
  • Experience with Google Forms or similar tools
  • Experience working with engineers and scientists
